I’m shocked how little people has even talked about how Kyrie stomped (I’d say he more wiped) his feet on the Celtics logo. Some journalists that have broached the topic have said who cares? Guys run up and down on the logo constantly.

For me this is insanely upsetting and if I could talk to any of them I would ask, are you a proud American? Is your flag symbolic of that? Well just think that every day people use the American Flag as clothing, underwear, made into cookies and eaten, used as towels to wipe their body off or even lay on...but if you saw someone literally stomping and wiping their feet on your flag, how would that make you feel???

This is how some passionate Celtics fans (including myself) feel.

Even when Bill Russell hated the Boston public for their racism, he truely loved and fought for the Celtics and what the organization represented.

- First black player drafted
- First black all starting five
- First black captain
- First black coach

I think John Karalis summarized it best: it’s a silly basketball controversy. I file this under the same “controversy” folder as staring down a hone run or running up the score.

That being said, clearly Kyrie has an axe to grind vs the Cs organization as evidenced by him going out of his way to make that gesture. There is definitely way more there to that story than what has been divulged so far. Wonder who gets the scoop on that story at some point.

I care ..he walked right up to the logo and wiped his feet in the same manner you wipe dogshat off your shoes on the logo. It was calculated and done with malice. In the context of what has been going on between this idiot and the Celtics it was an eff you to the Celtics organization. Anyone that thinks it was okay because the logo is on the playing surface is just plain naive.

Good point about more to this issue than has been divulged.

Kyrie is just a disgusting individual, honestly.

There are NBA players I've liked, and players who have irked me.  But there its very rare that I have ever straight up despised an NBA player the way I do Kyrie.

The flat earth stuff and all that - that's moronic, but it's his opinion and he has a right to it.  But things like wiping his feet on the logo, the way he speaks about media when they criticise some of the dumb stuff he says, the way he's treated his teammates (both in Brooklyn and Boston) over the past few years...it just goes to show just what type of person he really is at heart.

IMHO he's just a despicable individual with a horrible attitude.

I think Lebron, Kyrie and Draymond are the only three guys in the NBA this past decade that I sincerely despise.

Faux controversy to go along with Kyrie's faux intellectualism.

I don't think there is.  Boston management didn't mistreat him, any more than Cleveland did.  He failed in Boston, and rather than fight, he quit.  He can't take accountability for that, so he blames the Celts, and has to make a big show of it for the world.

It’s a shame that people buy into the nonsense.....TNT now gives Draymond studio time just when we think he is out until next season..lol

I don’t think there’s been an athlete that I dislike more than Kyrie Irving.
Quoting Nick from the now locked Ime thread:

At some point you have to blame the performance on the court on the players on the court. Every loss is not the coach's fault and every win isn't because of the players.

Agree he is rotten. Throwing an entire region under the bus so he can avoid accountability is disgusting. And weaponizing anti-racism rhetoric for his own selfish needs is truly despicable.

The guy antagonizes the fans again and again,  then someone finally does something and we should be shocked, sympathetic, and self-hating? Just unreal.

Edit: agree too that he is my most despised sports figure. He has somehow become more intolerable than Bonds, Clemens, Lance Armstrong,  Shannon Sharpe, Wade, LeBron, and even David-effing-Stern.

Armstrong and Stern in particular are/were horrible people. But Irving's entitled shtick is unbelievably aggravating.

At least Draymond is a cracking analyst, Kryknee probably can't provide any insights on a match besides flashy highlight reels.

True.

And as much as Draymond is a knob head off the court, I can at least respect his toughness and work ethic on the court.  Not so for Kyrie, who seems to play hard when he feels like it and has no issue taking time off just for the heck of it.

Why hasn’t the NBA fined Kyrie?

For what? Stepping on a logo after the game?

Players get fined for giving the middle finger to the crowd. Surely this seems worse.
