Then bricked quite a few, after that.   But those ones he hit were very nice.

It was interesting to see the trust Brad had in Romeo last night. He played 27 minutes, which was more than twice as much as the next bench guy (Grant). He may never be a box-score angel, but his defensive versatility along with his ability to put the ball on the floor gives the Cs somebody who can affect both sides of the ball. I look forward to seeing how his offense advances this summer...because it really has to. At least he hit those two 3s last night. People are writing this guy off way too early - hopefully he has a Rob like jump this summer.

Romeo did decent job defending Durant despite his still getting all those points. Pretty sure that’s why Brad kept him in so long. The two 3s were a bonus.

Agreed. If he and Nesmith can make a leap this offseason and the next, the team's future is a lot brighter.

A young team like ours will improve just through the aging processes but I'd still like to pick up a couple of savvy vets for our bench. I think Danny tried to do that a little this year. It could work better next year with the improvement of young guys!

He has to get the point that he has to guarded on the offensive end of the floor.

First off I think any guy on a rookie deal has a very good chance of being used in a trade to move other pieces.

That said, assuming both guys are still here next season ....

Nesmith - He should be the 4th wing in the rotation getting a relatively consistent 10-20 minutes a night depending on the circumstances. He's got a long way to go but he's shown that he gives you things that other guys on the team don't.

Langford - He's still a project. I think he'd be best suited on a lottery team that can afford to give him the space to make mistakes and figure it out. On a team that wants to win, he shouldn't be higher in the rotation than 10-12. He should be getting DNPs most nights and that's an issue for his development which has been really derailed by injuries and COVID.  He has really good defensive ability but he's just too raw on the offensive end to be playing regularly for a team that lacks offensive talent.

I agree about Langford. Want us to trade him somewhere like Orlando or Cleveland

one of you folks better give CBS a call and let him know because he has this to say about Romeo.

“I think Romeo is going to be an NBA player for a long time,” Stevens said in a Wednesday video press conference. “I don’t think there’s any question about that. He’s got a great feel. He’s got great athleticism. He knows the game, he works at the game, he’s a very good worker. So, I think about it more in terms of he’s just missing half of his second season, or whatever it is, and I think that that’s hard when you already went through injuries as a rookie.

Democracy begins with freedom from hunger, freedom from unemployment, freedom from fear, and freedom from hatred.

Hopefully, Langford is healthy for one off season and takes 500-1000 Jump shots a day.   He should work on strengthening his tendons to prevent injury

Nesmith needs to work on his core and his balance to improve his defense.   He needs to keep shooting.

Both of these guys are athletes which is good.  Skill is easier to develop than athletic ability and they have good bases.

What's your point?

He's saying he thinks Romeo will have a long career.

Not saying he thinks Romeo is a good or reliable NBA player now.

In 18 regular season games Romeo’s stats are in line with Matisse
Thybulle‘s 2021 season stats.

Matisse Thybulle is a player that gets mentioned repeatedly as “Man, I wish he was a Celtics.”

Matisse is 24 years old. He is Romeo’s floor. Even if he never develops his shot, and I think he will, Romeo’s still got a couple of years before he’s 24. The 76ers are a contender. Matisse is in the rotation at 15-20 minutes per game. On a contender.

He’s not the 10-12th man on a contender, and neither is Romeo. At worst they are both, or will be going forward, the 7-8th guy in the rotation and Romeo will eventually be a starter if he can turn his offense around. If he can’t, he’s Matisse Thybulle and will have a respectable 10 year career as a defensive role player off the bench.

To suggest otherwise is ludicrous and doesn’t fit his skill level or what Danny and Brad expect from him.

The big differences are efficiency (Thybulle's EFG is 50.8% whereas Langford's is 39.8%) and defensive disruption, as Thybulle generates an insanely high number of steals and blocks.

Not to say Langford can't get there, I just am worried about his potential playing time when we're fully healthy

One or both will be traded this off-season.  Teams want young talent and I doubt Timelord is going anywhere.

I'm hopeful the Celtics don't trade anyone besides Walker and/or Thompson. I'd love to keep both of these guys for at least one more season. They're both showing flashes.
