Just look at the 20 teams that are in the playoffs/play-ins when we compare playmakers. The Celtics really don't have a floor general. No wonder our offense is often stagnant. Besides the Knicks and Clippers all the other teams have a (far) superior playmaker than the Celtics.

76ers: Simmons
Nets: Harden (+Irving)
Bucks: Holiday (+Antetokounmpo)
Knicks: Randle
Hawks: Young
Heat: Butler (+Adebayo)
Celtics: Smart (+Walker)
Wizards: Westbrook
Pacers: Sabonis (+Brogdon)
Hornets: Ball (+Graham)

Jazz: Conley (+Mitchell)
Suns: Paul
Nuggets: Jokic (+Murray)
Clippers: Leonard (+George)
Mavericks: Doncic
Trailblazers: Lillard
Lakers: James (+Schröder)
Warriors: Green (+Curry)
Grizzlies: Morant
Spurs: DeRozan (+Murray)

I often think a pass first PG would help us a lot.

Highlighted with Brown out. We're playing with one All-NBA level talent (heck, one All-Star!) against a team with two MVP-calibre guys and another All-NBA calibre guard.

I think a more defensively versatile PG would help. Was why I wanted us so desperately to work out a Kemba for Holiday deal.

'23 Historical Draft: Orlando Magic.

PG: Terry Porter (90-91) / Steve Francis (00-01)
SG: Joe Dumars (92-93) / Jeff Hornacek (91-92) / Jerry Stackhouse (00-01)
SF: Brandon Roy (08-09) / Walter Davis (78-79)
PF: Terry Cummings (84-85) / Paul Millsap (15-16)
C: Chris Webber (00-01) / Ralph Sampson (83-84) / Andrew Bogut (09-10)

A big part of our lack of play-making is our bad shooting when we do make the passes. We miss a lot of good shots that would be assists.

Ja is untouchable unless we offer Tatum and Chris Paul is 36, injury-prone and on a max contract. Neither are the answer. Ja Morant has also quickly become a very overrated basketball player. Basically did not improve upon his rookie season and is a fringe All-Star player at best right now. Fox to me is much more preferable to Ja

This team might just need time. TIMELORD, TATUM, JB are all on their way up. If they all continue to improve there you are!

Chris Paul is not good enough for the high standards of the Cs.

Those three still need a PG.

If people thought Kemba and Hayward were overpaid and injury-prone...

A pass-first PG isn’t necessarily the answer. The team just needs better passers. Rob Williams is a really good passer at the center position, for instance. Smart is a great passer and usually plays SG. Hayward was a great passer as a forward, and that’s one reason the team struggled this year.

A lot of this will be solved as Tatum and Brown age and gradually improve in their passing. Otherwise, the team just needs to fill the roster with good passers who know how to play in a team concept.

Fournier is a better passer than I thought he was. Hope we retain him
