Let’s say Kawhi wants to team up with Tatum/Brown and forces this sign-and-trade to get here:

https://tradenba.com/trades/UBiPkTCpX

Are we good enough to win it all in 2022?

Smart/Pritchard/Edwards/Madar
Brown/Fournier/Langford
Leonard/Nesmith
Tatum/Parker/Williams
TT/Timelord/2021 1st round pick (5/4)

2022 2nd round pick: Euro draft-and-stash

Dream on.

He'll either stay with Clippers or force his way to Miami or Philly, or the Knicks (who have cap space)  or back to the Raptors.

Say he wanted to come to Boston.  The Clippers would demand a much higher price in a sign and trade than Kemba and a couple of 1st round picks. They would want one of the J's for sure, as a starting point.

LOL. Danny couldn't trade Kemba for a bag of balls if he wanted to. But somehow, we should debate if Kemba and picks could land the Celtics a top 5 player in the league?

The Knicks having space is the leverage Kawhi would use to force the Clips’ hands. If it took five first-rounders, I’d do it because I think that Big 3 would become champs.

If I’m Kawhi and I try to see where I can go to beat the other Big 3s, I’d pick Boston over Miami and Philly (can those two even fit him into the cap without giving up a valuable piece?). And if the Clips would not play ball, watch them get nothing as I become King of NY. Of course they’d do a deal and Kawhi goes where he wants in return for picks. Kawhi planned all of this out when negotiating the player option for this season, so the only question is where does Kawhi maximize his chances of winning 3-4 titles? Hopefully the answer he decides is Boston.

Yeah that is a putrid trade.  heck the Raptors paid more when Kawhi hadn't played in basically a full season.

There is no reasonable way to acquire Leonard without Brown or Tatum plus a boat load of picks and other assets.  That said, I might consider trading Brown in that scenario.  Brown, Smart, 21, 22, 24, 26 for Leonard.  I'd do that.  Re-sign Fournier to play SG.  Nice little roster with Walker, Fournier, Leonard, Tatum, Williams and still having Thompson, Pritchard, Nesmith, and Langford plus Parker, Semi, etc.

But this keeps Tatum at the 4. At what point does Tatum and his agent demand the Cs get a legit 4.

When Tatum will enter his prime, saying at 26, Kawhi will be 33 YO. And I find he already showed some signs of decline, not saying that his injury prone can hit again; and he woul be another walker missing one match on two on RS.
I give everything else for him (but it isn't enough) but not Brown. Maybe I would give Brown for KAT, it is the only potentialy realistic move I would do (and even if I would have hard time to part with a person of the qualities and valors of Brown -who is almost the opposite of Kirie...)

another garbage trade idea from the same OP.

in a vacuum, before I even consider an unrealistic Kawhi trade, I want to see how he performs in the playoffs this year to see if he shows up and plays in an engaged manner on both ends of the floor.  wasn't overwhelmed by last year's results.  let's see if he plays like he did in SAS (before sitting out) or Toronto before making silly proposals.  With Jaylen you know he's going to show up and he's an all-star in his own right who's still improving.  That Kemba offer isn't getting it done.

KL has a player option for next season. If he wants out of LAC he declines the option. If KL wants to force his way to a particular team without cap space, then LAC needs something to sweeten the deal. So both parties have some leverage, but it seems dubious that the Clippers would want to stay in the tax by swapping Kemba since they would no longer be a contender and the two picks plus Kemba wouldn't get them there. OTOH, they're screwed if Leonard walks and having a competitive team in the 2nd largest market is better than being totally screwed. Nonetheless, the 8-ball says it's unlikely.

I think the idea that people want to team up with Brown and Tatum is pretty absurd.    I wish it was the case, it seems like Donovan Mitchell is pals with them but it is a pipedream.

The Clippers GM would be fired the instant he made that trade.   Nice try probably worked on Madden.

I'm fine with that if you have a better player at SF than Tatum.

Sign and trade is not going to be a realistic option this summer.

Haha, what? Why? I could see a young guy they're friends with (Beal, Mitchell) maybe wanting to join their team, but Kawhi?

That also isn't even beginning to address how violently lopsided this deal is

true, I just assumed he meant Kawhi would opt in and then we trade for him as an expiring.
