Seems like Brad gave some very Belichickian praise to the Nets. Pro Coaching 101....praise your opponents and say what a struggle it will be for your team to overcome the opponent' team quality. If you are a Patriots fan, you've seen this going on for two decades.

I say move along folks...nothing to see here.

A coach can praise and respect their opponent without telling the media that the fan base should expect the team that they are coaching to lose.

Again, that’s not what he said.

I see nuisance isn’t your strong suit.

Got it.

Lol.

“if I'm a fan and just a general fan of the NBA, I have a hard time seeing them(The Nets) lose.”

Not sure how else you can interpret that...Maybe he was just kidding around, though.

Sure? Maybe? If that’s all he said, but it’s not.

He continued: “So we're going to have to play great, we're going to have to play great together and we're going to have to be really, really sound on both ends of the floor."

Not sure how you can interpret that as “Coaching to loose.”

He actually (literally) outlines what it will take to win.

Nothing wrong with coaching loose but coaching to lose is a tank.

we need production of bench guys, semi, Grant, Langford. all these guys have to play well. I am talking defense, 10 points here and there. Especially semi, like dude you been there before and grant too.

what else would he say?

exactly.  BS said exactly what any smart coach would say to the "MEDIA" in this situation.

What he says to the TEAM is probably a little bit different, but maybe not that much.

That leaves us out, good D from Grant and the 10 points will be a challenge for them collectively.   What team have you been watching blink?   Just Kidding.

When I listened to it live I interpreted the quote as typical coach-speak. Building up your opponent so they can't take anything you say as bulletin board material. And then when you meet with your team pointing out all of your opponent's weaknesses you'll need to capitalize on in order to win.

TP. Correct and concise.

what else would he say?

You think it’s fine for the coach of Celtics to say that their opponents are the best of the best and that he has a hard time seeing the Nets lose?  ???

I do not think it is ok for Stevens to say that. Giving the Nets collection of three of the sorriest character guys in the league some credit for talent is fine, but our coach went too far. Fits his soft, non-combative personality though.

No, he was right. Nuisance is not my strong suit.

At some point you have to blame the performance on the court on the players on the court. Every loss is not the coach's fault and every win isn't because of the players.
