Feel bad for him. Tough way to end your Finals trip with a game 1, year long injury.

I am not sure how effective he can be after that. He already really struggled with his slow speed. If he gets any slower not sure he can stay on floor defensively. Also, reminds me of the time during 76ers mania when people were saying he would average 20,12 and 6 if he got off the 76ers. Man was that a silly time for the forum.

I'm not sure how much an ACL affects a player's lateral quickness, which is what is important for defence. His straight line speed will be hindered no doubt.

But he's always hovered around average defence. It's his passing and shooting that will get him playing time. It's a real bummer for him, but luckily he's got that long-term contract. Always wanted him as a bench big here, but I do fondly remember the All-Star Saric projections
'23 Historical Draft: Orlando Magic.

PG: Terry Porter (90-91) / Steve Francis (00-01)
SG: Joe Dumars (92-93) / Jeff Hornacek (91-92) / Jerry Stackhouse (00-01)
SF: Brandon Roy (08-09) / Walter Davis (78-79)
PF: Terry Cummings (84-85) / Paul Millsap (15-16)
C: Chris Webber (00-01) / Ralph Sampson (83-84) / Andrew Bogut (09-10)

I was very high on Saric and per 36 he was still producing at a pretty nice clip even this season at 18.1 p, 7.9 r, 2.7 a, 1.2 s with an eFG% of 51.6 and a TS% of 56.7.  Only played 17 mpg though.  Shame he got hurt, but at least he has 2 years left on his contract so he will get paid to sit out next year and paid to get back into real playing form the next year, just in time for a new contract.
2023 Historical Draft - Brooklyn Nets - 9th pick

Bigs - Pau, Amar'e, Issel, McGinnis, Roundfield
Wings - Dantley, Bowen, J. Jackson
Guards - Cheeks, Petrovic, Buse, Rip

Giannis has the same problem, to a lesser extent, that Simmons has when the games mean more. He has a high usage rate but can't shoot free throws. The Bucks need to play more throw Middleton, Holiday, and to a lesser extent Lopez. Lopez is great on the box and can make free throws. I've been rooting for the Suns since the Celtics got knocked out but I hope The Bucks can get it together and make this a series. I'm not a fan of coach Bud.

Looks like this one is going to go down to the wire...

At some point you have to blame the performance on the court on the players on the court. Every loss is not the coach's fault and every win isn't because of the players.

Simmons doesn't have a high usage rate.  It is just 20-21% during the regular season.  His limitations have caused that to decline to 16% the past couple playoffs.  Giannis usage is over 30%.
