Couldn't see what happened. Tatum looked like he got hurt by Brown hitting his lower leg, though he looked to walk it off. What happened to Brown?

announcers were saying ankle

Ankle for Brown went in and out. Out is the one you worry about. It was slightly but it was because of Tatum falling on it.

That one scares me a lil.

Is it the same ankle that almost kept him out of this game?

Not sure bud.

Thanks. Let’s hope it’s not as serious as it looked.

Wait..so  how the heck did Smart get ejected on a play where he got fouled on a moving pick, and got one tech??? That's garbage.
Because Smart also hit the dude in the nuts and he has a reputation for it so refs just threw him out because of it.

He accidentally hit the guy as he got fouled on a moving pick, same way Powell accidentally hit Smart hard in the face earlier and the refs reviewed that one and called it a common foul. Can't have it both ways.
Point is he has a history. Refs didn’t give him benefit of the doubt. If his didn’t have a history of questionable calls, he’d be in the game.

Refs are paid to call the game based on what happens on the floor during the game. Player history has nothing to do with it, they had the benefit of the replay and over 5 minutes to review it. It's blatant bias and ruined the whole flow of what was a great game until then.

I'd love to see Brad stand up for Smart on this one.

Don't forget the Horrid goal tending call!

Here is the Jays injury again

Yeah looks like on-impact with Tatum's ankle.

Either that or at 0:25 he gets his ankle scissored.

agree 100%.  you have to react to what happened on the court in this game, not some other game.  Plus he was knocked down, it wasn't like there wasn't anything else happening on that play other than Smart taking a cheap shot.  Again, doesn't a single tech need to be a flag 2 for it to be eject worthy?  I guess that is completely up to the refs, and if so, they should change that rule.  Smart didn't throw a punch, it wasn't a fight.

Hopefully both will be ok.

I thought Tatum got it the worst. Right inside the leg area

Unfortunately that’s not reality. Same reason Draymond got suspended in the finals. Prior history gives you no wiggle room on questionable calls. Considering Smarts history of trying to game refs with flops etc, it’s doesn’t do him any favors on calls where there probably isn’t any intent.

Plus, the refs stink (which isn’t anything new).

Yeah - legit, show me where his arm should've gone. It's attached at the shoulder m8. He reached for the ball, then the arm bounced off McCollum's arm and got guided into Nurkic's groin.

Just rewatching it on League Pass on slowmo.

Literally nowhere else that arm COULD have gone.

Because of PHYSICS.

if that horrid call didn't happen, JB would be ok

Well Tatum walked off on his own power (gingerly), Jaylen had a guy on each side of him holding him up as he was going down the tunnel.

Giving up 129 points in regulation can't be acceptable for this group.  Our defense has to improve, and it has to start at the top with Tatum and Brown... because IMHO that's where the biggest dropoff has come.  Tatum went from an above average defender to a mediocre one.  Brown has always been a bit inconsistent - generally excellent on-ball and spotty off-ball - but he has gotten worse in both categories this season.  He's legitimately a poor overall defender right now.

We have the tools to be a very good defensive team.  Instead we're a bad one, and fixing that is one of the things that must happen if we are going to contend at any point within the next few seasons.  Our stars have to lead that charge.

Just end the season already sigh. Defense has been atrocious. The team's been very inconsistent. This team needs help and lots of help.

Smart with more than 10 FG attempts (14) and, fittingly, we lose the game.
