Unforced turnovers allowed Charlotte to come back. Good thing these happened towards the end of the half.

I held my breath as he challenged that last corner three to end the half.

Why didn't Brad match Zeller up against Kornet?

Efficient game so far across the board.
The Jays takes the bulk of the shots with 14-24, and Smart does not bring down that high efficiency level.
We only have have 5 TOs so far. Wow.

I really like Waters' natural PG skills.  It's a shame he's so small and would be a massive defensive liability in the playoffs.  We need players with his skill set to keep the ball moving.

He's a good defender even at that size.

He's a very good defender for his size, but he'll get posted up (like almost all PGs). He's a good playmaker too when he focuses on that as opposed to forcing his own offense, but all too often he's been sky high when he enters a game.

Celtics FG 44.4% 3PT 7 for 20
Hornets FG 40% 3PT 4 for 16

Benches
Celtics 36 minutes 8 points
Hornets 29 minutes 16 points

Good part of second quarter with Robert + Nesmith ...they spent most of their minutes "airborne". Then Brown came in and that has to be one of the most athletic lineups in awhile.

Brown + Tatum 14/24 with 35 points

Smart hasn't missed a three point shot yet...oh yea that's right. Never mind.

Didn't Jaylen have 20 points in the 1st quarter? He got nothing in the 2nd?

I can live with some of the mistakes we made down the stretch there.  I felt like we were trying a bit too hard, maybe pressing a bit... but given the awful effort of the last few games, I find this preferable.  Nesmith plays reckless as hell, but frankly I think we need some of that right now.

Of more concern to me is the fact that Jaylen obliterated the Hornets in the first quarter and then got one shot in the second.  We reverted to Tatum ball, and I thought we built the lead in large part because we WEREN'T resorting to that in the first quarter.  That kind of offense is always available late in the clock if necessary, but I really dislike using it as the go-to option unless Tatum is hot... like Jaylen was before we iced him.
