Don't trade Romeo

It seems like just yesterday people were lauding Romeo’s defense. Then Brad stopped playing him and he apparently sucks again. I still think he has the potential to be a special defensive player and an effective offensive one. Thybulle on the Sixers is absolutely dreadful offensively, but he gets minutes because of his defense. That is more or less his floor to me right now.

He has length / skills and no major injuries to overcome . All +s

after a summer to work on shooting , I d like to see his progress after he puts another 1/2 season sans no injuries

Right now I be ok with trade as part of a SERIOUS quality center / big like Timelord or in addition to Timelord . I still see him having a nice 4-5 fifth man game and don’t think he should be given away.  Too much potential IMO.

I’m still ok with Kornet for what he gives on the cheap as a third backup .

Kid has shown real defensive skills.  would like to see what he does after a training camp where he's healthy enough to participate.  As someone else mentioned, took Timelord and Rozier until their 3rd year until they got it.

As of today, he's taken 43 shots this year, and there wasn't even any significant scrimmaging for him to get a feel  for his offensive game by the time he was ready to play.

He has the building blocks to be well above average offensive player. He needs some runs with NBA players. This year tells us nothing. Nesmith looked like a mess two months ago, and he's starting to score regularly now.

Langford is only 21.  When you are drafted at age 19, you can have two bad seasons and still be young enough to be a prospect.  Langford is still a prospect, unfortunately, one who has not played enough to show definitively how good he might be but equally fortunately, has not played enough to show he is not good.

It is impossible to know.  There have been moments when I have really liked what I have seen, enough that I remain positive about him.  But I recognize that it is too small a sample size to be able to KNOW anything.

Langford just hasn't played enough to know one way or another at this point.  I like cost controlled guys, so unless something really shakes out, you don't go out of your way to trade him when his value is at the lowest point possible.

On the other hand, we seem to know what we have with Waters, Edwards, and even Tacko to a point, so probably time for those three roster spots to open up next year for either vet min guys, and/or our first round pic + Yam if he comes over.

I always forget that Waters is on a 2-way.  I mean he has been starting lately for as bat-crap crazy as that is.  What other teams in the NBA have had one of their 2-way players start games?  lol

anyways, there will be turnover at the back end of the roster, it needs to happen, and might not be limited to just Tacko, Waters, Edwards.

The next two games before the playoffs would be a nice opportunity to see what Romeo is capable of. I hope Brad gives him major minutes and runs some plays for him. Get his confidence up. His defense has been ok, but let’s see that highly touted offensive game he was known for in high school in the next two games. We desperately need scoring off the bench and he could hopefully change that, together with Neismith.

Yeah, he's still just played too few games. I want him to get a training camp and get healthy and see what he can really do.

It depends what we could get back, but nothing we seen indicates he is untradeable.  Get real, he is an unproven guy who shows some ability on defense and nothing on offense.

How many years does he get?   I know he has a lot of injuries but you can work on your shot even with injuries minus the wrist thing.    But did he develop his off hand, nope.  I think this mindset of accepting mediocrity is what got us here.   But time to turn up the heat on some of these projects either play well or you're off the team.   We learned this year that our depth is not good enough.

I do think the jury is still out.

Romeo's health is a huge disappointment.  Like I said in another post, he has literally done more for New England's Medical staff seeking care than the Celtics.

We've done a lot of waiting until next year and it will be better.   Things rarely are and the other teams improve and our window gets smaller.

Many fans were saying the same thing about Timelord and Terry Rozier after their first two seasons.

They also said the same thing about James Young and Yabusele.

If the Celtics can get a lottery pick for Romeo, trading him is a no brainer but I don't feel like he has that value anymore.

Grant Williams and Carsen Edwards also look like bad picks in retrospect.  Why did we give up Matisse Thybulle for those 2 stiffs?

Anyways it is easy to point at Danny's misses.  I think his bigger failure was not pulling the trigger on trades for those picks.  Imagine if we have a Paul George on this team to complement Tatum and Brown instead of the questionable bench players and wasted 1st round picks that we made?
