Same boat.   Not sure how much he moves the needle and don't think he's the answer for this team's woes.

Disagree.  He's been playing out of position as a 3 for Orlando his whole career.  He has all the tools to be an elite 4 / small ball 5.  I really believe his career trajectory will blow up once he gets out of Orlando and starts playing a more natural position.

He has spent at least 60% of his time at power forward and every season but one in his career. This year, he has played 90% of his minutes as a power forward.

I'd be a bummed if we don't do anything.

Fundamentally Gordon's gone and Kemba looks diminished so we need to align everything to Tatum's timeline now. Gordon makes sense for that, but there are other moves that could as well.

I would enjoy this season a lot more if they started playing better and more together, and I fear a trade is necessary for that to happen.

Agreed. And I like Gordon btw. I just think they could do better this offseason, and I also don't see Gordon changing much this season which feels like a 1st (or quick 2nd) round exit.

The best case scenario for me is, Hawks decide to trade Collins so you trade for him and his 4M salary this season (which wouldn't make us hard-capped either) and then extend him in the offseason while also having the TPE to use and add another player if they'd like. We'd have his Bird Rights.

You can have Brown-Tatum-Collins and another solid player to build with. Or if not Collins, a guy like Vucevic could be had in the offseason with the TPE. I think a Collins S&T option could exist too after this season if ATL doesn't want to pay him, maybe in a scenario where there's a 3rd team that takes on Kemba in a salary-dump kind of move.

Same here.  Like Gordon, but think this year's C's #1 could land a heck of a PG, albeit it one who would likely take time to develop and be ready.  Happy to have Gordon if it makes for an exciting post season.  He would make a nice trifecta with the J's I have to say.

I don't need Gordon particularly, but I need a big wing to start next to Brown and Tatum, and for us to move at least one of our centers in getting such a player.  Stevens is completely lacking in lineup versatility right now, which inhibits is ability to exploit matchups.  Our best lineup is Kemba-Smart-Brown-Tatum-Big -- always those four and a big, and we have three bigs.  When we put in a non-big reserve, we lose a lot of production and gain nothing in mismatches.  Gordon/Barnes/Nance in place of one of those bigs on the roster means Stevens can alternate between two guards, two wings and a big, one guard, three wings, and a big, and occasionally two guards and three wings, always using some combination of our top 6 players.  Right now if he wants to create alternative looks he immediately has to rely on players like Pritchard, Grant, and Semi in higher leverage situations than they're ready for.  Those guys are all 8-10th men being asked to be the sixth man (or starter when Kemba sits) on any given night.

What gives me hope is Gordon is still only 25 and there always examples of players really breaking out around 26, 27 with Rozier, Randle, and Jerami Grant this year’s examples.  Maybe the Celts feel they can unlock another level in Gordon’s game. Saying that I usually come away unimpressed in the past watching him play, but that doesn’t mean it will be that way in the future.

I definitely think Gordon would be a great fit on this team.  He will add a level of toughness we don't have, extra scoring and spacing allowing Brad to keep two of Kemba, Tatum, Brown and Gordon on the floor at all times to stop the lulls.  He can post up and play D.  The issue I have is that I don't think the Celtics have great assets and can see Danny trying to make a deal but no one wants what we are willing to trade.  Smart is out best asset but it doesn't help trading him unless you are getting better players in return.

I'm not holding my breath waiting for news of a trade. Looks to me like the top teams in the East are going all in so even if Gordon comes here it may just get them past the first round - and with the way these guys have been going even that's nothing that you can assume.

Adding Gordon for a pick and a young makes the end of the year more interesting and gives them another piece moving forward.  Overall, that's worth it.  Doesn't appear to me to be much of a downside if the price is right -- that is, Smart isn't involved.  I'll add to that... no Rob or PP either.

Sorry, but Smart's as good as gone.  At this point it's pretty clear he's not a building block.  They've spent like 300,000,000 on point guards since drafting the guy and he's still not ready to be a starter.

If you've gotta trade Smart to get it done you do it - it's that simple.

At the rate Smart is jacking up bad 3's, I don't think there is a downside if Smart is involved.  He just fundamentally doesn't understand his role sometimes.
