Smart had an incredible game tonight on both ends of the court. 24pts, 8ast, 6reb, only two turnovers. Shot 7-11 from the field,4-8 from 3pt, and 6-7 from the line. Back to back solid games.. He did it all.

At some point you have to blame the performance on the court on the players on the court. Every loss is not the coach's fault and every win isn't because of the players.

Smart with best 6 game stretch of the season after that disastrous Pelicans game. Last 5 games before tonight:

13.2/6.6/3.0 with 1.6 steal, 0.8 blocks, 1 drawn charge per game shooting 43.5/40/85.4 with a 60.7% TS% .

His performance tonight will only improve those numbers.

If Smart can be like this for another 10-15 game stretch, it will lead to a lot of Celtic wins. This stretch of good play for Smart certainly has helped to drive this 4 wins out of 5 streak they are on.

Love that he literally responded to being called out by Garden Report, by focussing on staying in front of fast guards.

He took the hate, flipped it.

Reminder that Smart missed HEAPS of games due to COVID. Might have well affected our record.

I've still enjoyed him. Yes he's made mistakes and had bad games. Overall, he's definitely one of the top 4 players on this team.

If Smart consistently played like he played last night, he’d be an allstar and a shoo in for 1st team all defense. Just a couple of bad shots (mainly from 3) but overall, a really terrific night from him.

Unfortunately, a good night means a bad one is coming real soon. Brace yourself for the mental implosion

Perkins called out Tatum. Tatum drops 50.

Felger and Mazz called out JB. He’s been great the last few games.

Need someone to call Kemba publicly now. Gotta keep this going.

I’ve long felt one of Steven’s shortcomings as a coach (at least from the outside looking in) is that he doesn’t hold his players accountable by calling them out on certain plus that are simply unacceptable. Plays by Smart (boneheaded shots or plus at the ring time on offense) and Jaylen Brown (defensive lapses in intensity too often) come immediately to mind. I see stuff happen in games where a Popovich / Riley type would immediately call out.

I understand it’s a new league but the coach still has to call guys out when required - it’s part of being a manager/leader.

I think both Tatum and Brown should be hammered far more often for body language, lack of emotional intensity and visibly vocal leadership on the court way more often. Those two guys need to throw the team on their shoulders and visibly lead everyone.

They’re young and evolving - but that’s where it needs to go IMHO.

You mean like this:

"I just don't see Kemba fitting in no more," Perkins said on Celtics Postgame Live. "Like, to me, the Celtics look better without him on the floor. I mean, I'm sorry I'm being hard on Kemba and a little critical, but it's just -- he's not filling that void right now on the offensive end and stepping up when it matters the most and on the defensive end he still is a liability."

Former Celtics center Kendrick Perkins thinks Boston ought to find a way to move starting point guard Kemba Walker to another team, even if it means burning several picks of valuable draft capital to get the deal done. That’s a bold, potentially franchise-altering move if ever there was one — but would the altering be for good — or would the Celtics end up being the worse for having made it?
