Pros and Cons of Kemba Coming Off the Bench

I reckon he should come off the bench in an ideal world. I'd start PP over him to set the tempo and more reliably hit open shots.

If we could get someone like Harrison Barnes or similar I'd even bench Smart too for certain match-ups

There is no reason for Kemba to come off the bench. If he is so bad he needs to be benched, he needs to be moved immediately.

But he is playing good ball, his numbers the last 16 games or so are 19.5/4.5/3.5. He's good for getting at least 1 stock a game an one charged drawn every two or so games.

This team needs to be healthy. Then they have to get the guys into the roles they will be playing in. Then the success will come.

Sitting Kemba solves no issues whatsoever. It probably causes locker room problems.

There are no pros for bringing Kemba off the bench. If we are looking to win, we need the best version of Kemba, as he needs to be at least our 3rd best player. If we are looking to trade him, he needs to be showcased as much as possible.

People have this Lou Williams/Jordan Clarkson idea in mind with Kemba, but that is just not reasonable given our lack of depth. We aren't going to start a rookie PG in Pritchard. He is decent, but it's not like he has separated himself. And Smart is good, but more of a combo guard and we don't have nearly enough playmaking/shot creation left in our starting line-up if he is your PG. I'm all set with double bigs or Semi to start. I won't even get into the chemistry issues this would likely cause.

The Jays know more about winning in the NBA than Kemba. Bringing up his college winning has nothing to do with him now

I think from a player management perspective it's more likely that they would go the post-knee-KG route and just play Kemba for limited stretches until the fourth quarter, so that he ends up totaling 24-28 minutes per game on a typical night.

Yeah, he had been trending upward but he's declined again recently. I like the idea of Kemba in that Lou Williams bench role. Get about 28-30MPG and a green light

Don't see any Pros. You can reduce his minutes but he is the best PG option.
