So with that said, would you move Brown for Wiseman, Oubre (for dollars), and the Minny pick (top 3 this year, unprotected in 22)?  Clear uncertainty in the value of the Minny pick, but Wiseman is obviously incredibly talented and Oubre at least is decent to keep Boston in the playoffs this year.  This would be the type of trade that kicks the can down the road, but obviously could put Boston in a more likely championship window in a couple of seasons when Tatum is in his peak, Wiseman is just entering it, and the potential high draft pick adds that 3rd player that is currently not on the team.  Trade also wouldn't foreclose other moves

Yeah, I’d do that. Gulp.

And there’s still the TPE. What does that turn into? Minny pick is a legit asset for a guy like Beal, better than any we have not named Tatum or Brown. Or would you rather draft that guy in what looks to be a strong draft (always a crapshoot though)?

Edit: though, duh, would GSW then just trade those for Beal? Hard to see why not. Also did they say they would trade the two together or each as a separate asset for its own perennial all-star? Then it’s be Brown for Wiseman OR the Minny pick. Not so sure.

I just might do it depending on that Minny pick and Wiseman both being dealt.  the concerns are adding Wiseman when we have Timelord.  Wiseman's obviously the prize of the 2 but then we have to do something with Timelord.  Also, does that Minny pick convey this year or next is a big question.  if next year, what's the odds we get screwed again with another team outperforming expectations to screw up the pick they owe --> See Memphis and Sac picks.

I’ve thought for a bit that Wiseman and that pick could be used for Beal.  I would not do it for Jaylen, however, unless I were also ready to blow it up and trade Tatum.  Something tells me that Minnesota won’t be nearly so bad next year when that pick is unprotected as they are this year when it’s protected only for the top 3.  Not saying they’ll be good, but I’d far prefer to have Brown than say Wiseman and #9 next year.

I don’t think Wiseman or that pick alone is enough for a star by themselves, unless said star is on an expiring and going to walk in free agency from his current team.  For someone with multiple years left on their contract, both are needed at a minimum.

Yes, as hard as it is to trade Brown, I would do it for a generational big, a solid fringe starter/6th man wing (albeit expiring), and that draft pick (useful in other trades).

I just don't see how GSW could do this though.  They already have Klay and Wiggins so if you add Brown, that is 3 players and about $88m tied up for 2 wing positions.  Unless they plan to injury exempt Klay or something.  I guess they could play Wiggins off the bench for $30M per year for the next 3 years.

How about this trade for Karl Anthony Towns?  A little more matching salary from GSW is needed but this trade might be good for both teams.

No.  Brown is my favorite player on this team.  I believe he is a better all around player than even Tatum.  If Wiseman is a future all-star then that means we have to invest $30-$40m per year at the center spot when he is older.  And there is no guarantee that the Minnesota pick ends up being great (see Sacramento, Memphis, Philly picks from our own recent history).

This scenario made me think, but that's a no from me.

I don't think that package lands Beal and I'm also not sure that the Warriors would actually prefer Beal to Brown.  Brown is much easier to play with both Curry and Klay than Beal is.

What is Tatum’s opinion on trading a fellow all-star for two lottery tickets?

I can't imagine he'd be thrilled at the prospect of kicking the can down the road.

Out of my own self interest, I want Jaylen on this team when they finally do break through.

Thanks, but no thanks. I'm not a fan of Wiseman's game. He ain't got the lateral quicks to defend the perimeter and/or the PnR. He's a nice rim protector (not an elite one, like Gobert). Don't see the appeal. We aren't in the 00s anymore.

I'd trade Brown for only 1 player: Cade Cunningham.

"The Warriors reportedly would trade rookie center James Wiseman and/or the Minnesota Timberwolves' top-three protected 2021 first-round pick under just one condition. They would have to acquire a "generational" superstar, the San Francisco Chronicle's Connor Letourneau reported Monday, citing a team source.

"Golden State knows that any discussion for an All-Star-caliber player will begin with the other team asking for one or both of the franchise’s two biggest assets outside of Stephen Curry, Klay Thompson and Draymond Green: the top-three-protected 2021 pick from Minnesota and rookie center James Wiseman," Letourneau wrote Monday.

"But according to a team source, the Warriors 'almost definitely' wouldn’t surrender that Timberwolves selection or Wiseman unless they got back someone generational such as Joel Embiid or Giannis Antetokounmpo."

Doesn't exactly scream "Jaylen Brown"....

Probably wouldn't be thrilled. But what's his opinion of being on a .500 ball club in a small market?

And what if the Cs turned the pick into a ready asset? Something like this (for your boy Collins)?

If I were the Warriors, I'd be leaking stuff like that too. :P

I bet they are trying to increase the value of their assets. Good for them. What's the point in saying you'd trade Wiseman + the Minny pick for Giannis or Embiid? Neither of them is available.

Hear ya. But at the end of the day, there IS a huge difference between A and B (Jaylen Brown).
