While Chicago isn't looking to move him, they apparently would with a "good" offer since they are concerned about keeping him long term and they would like to push for the playoffs.

I think Markkanen would be a great fit here as the long term 4 that the team could really use.

Not sure what a "good" offer to Chicago means, but would something like this work.

Smart, Pritchard, 21 1st for Markkanen, Valentine, Arcidiacono (Boston cuts Green or finds a team to take him or Edwards)

That seems like reasonable value for Markkanen.  Boston obviously has to be willing to keep him, but that is the type of trade that at least makes sense long term in my mind.  I'd do something similar for Collins/Snell from Atlanta as well, but I think I like Markkanen a bit more than Collins as he is a much more prolific shooter.

Meh.

Has he ever played anything close to a full season? Seems a tad fragile.

Maybe a group email to Steve Weinman asking him to do a CelticsStrong solid and help move Lauri to Boston should be in order.

I’d love to know what other GM’s really think of Lauri because he’s a bit of a conundrum for me. He is almost in the Collins mould of a high level role play borderline all star but doesn’t really do one thing to an elite level. He’s a very good shooter, but not an elite one. He can rebound well, but not a super hustle guy. He’s 7 feet, but not a true rim protector. He can block shots but isn’t a lock down defender. The question with him is how much does he value himself for his next contract, because if it’s a max it could come back to bite the team that gives it to him.

I’m super interested in an expert like Zach Lowe broaching the topic of the dying position of power forward and specifically someone like Dirk Nowitzki because in my eyes he would not be as effective today especially past prime years because of the level of defensive switching and the need for a rim protector next to him for his team to succeed. This is my curiosity about someone like Lauri Markkanen who obviously isn’t at or near Dirk’s level but is in the same mould as a player.

Brad won't play him and if he does won't get him any shots.

Career offensive rating 108
Career defensive rating 111

Why do we want to trade anything of substance for him and then pay up again in free agency?

Jaylen Brown's Career ORTG 107.  His career DRTG 108.  Kemba Walker is 109, 109.  Even Tatum is only 109, 105.

It seems like you seem to not really understand what that measures.

Seems like the perfect Brad center. A superior version of Olynyk. I’d certainly inquire to see if the ask is somewhat reasonable.
