I know that SF has their QB of the future, and that Aaron Rodgers is rumored to be headed to the Broncos. But man, that 49ers team is one quarterback away from being seriously good.
I wonder, if SF had a crystal ball, do they stay at #12 last year, instead of trading up for Trey Lance? They could have grabbed another elite defensive player in Micah Parsons, kept their first rounders in 2022 and 2003, plus a third rounder in 2022. They then would have had a solid chance at signing Rodgers.
Speaking of Rodgers, is he really a lock for Denver? I hear they may have an opening in Tampa these days.
Imagine if the Niners got Brady, or even someone like Stafford. They'd easily have a SB in the past few years.
Regarding Rodgers, the Broncos have the most to offer and I think the Broncos are another really good team that is a QB away (similar to how they got Peyton Manning in the mid-2010s). With that said, I wonder if the fact that he has to go up against Mahomes and Herbert in the same division actually gives him second thoughts. Raiders also could have a good QB in Carr or whoever they trade for.
One team that I think could be a scary darkhorse for Rodgers is.... the Pittsburgh Steelers. They have a fantastic defense, a few good playmakers on both sides and really if the Steelers add Rodgers and one good RB to go along with Tomlin as the coach, watch out. They're suddenly a real threat in the AFC along with BUF, CIN and KC.
I'd say the Titans would be wise to get rid of Tannehill and add someone like Rodgers but I don't think that's realistic since they already signed Tannehill to a 120M deal (lol). But the Titans are like the Niners, good coach, great team, but the QB is holding them back particularly in big moments.
