You mean Mac Jones can't throw the ball, who knew?  I mean the Patriots didn't since they wouldn't let him even try all season.
Terrible take, yet nonetheless unsurprising.
Not terrible. Pathetic. Moranis is butt hurt because the Pats used the best developmental techniques to develop Jones and didn't go with the ridiculous "let him be a gun slinger" developmental strategy Moranis espoused

Jones was 14th in the league in attempts. 15th in the league in completions. 13th in yards. 8th in completion percentage. 14th in TD passes.

He was the best rookie QB by a very, very wide margin and the only one to play in a playoff game. And, he was one of the best performing Patriots in that playoff game.

Pathetic take.

I do think the coaching staff did the right thing in terms of bringing Mac along slowly to start the season, however,  I do think it would have been wise to give him more downfield passing opportunities in the second half of certain games where the Pats were dominating. He needs those reps and so do the receivers.

The NFL is a passing league and Mac has to be able to throw downfield to win against better teams. Finishing the season 10-7 and making the playoffs was great, considering the team was starting a rookie QB, but it was pretty obvious last night that the Pats strategy of relying on the defense and running game is not a recipe for success against quality opponents. This can’t be the game plan going into next season. They do need to get Mac better receivers and let him throw downfield more often otherwise they will be looking at a 10-7 or 9-8 record next year and Buffalo will rule the division.

Dak is throwing terribly, particularly to the left.  Everything is off-target.

How do people feel about that Pats now that their season has concluded?

Obviously the loss last night was brutal, but overall I think the season went well. 10-7, made the playoffs, Mac outperformed all other rookie QB’s by a wide margin.

Expectations are going to be high going into next season and the Pats really need to get Mac some legitimate help at the WR position. The addition of Jonnu Smith and Nelson Agholor, who were the most expensive offensive acquisitions (combined $23.5M/year) has been a big swing and miss. They both need to have their contracts restructured.  As a comparison, this season Steffon Diggs and Devante Adams both made $14.5M. Myers and Bourne seem like decent 2nd and 3rd options, but the Pats need a #1 this can stretch the field. Would love to have Brandin Cooks back...
It was a definite positive overall. Mac is pretty seriously competent, Harris and Stevenson will be a good RB tandem for a few years, and we've got some good young defenders like Barmore. I was pretty happy with the overall outcome.

A receiver like Chris Olave or John Metchie in the draft would be a good target for us I reckon. A true WR1. I'd also love a speedy MLB so we don't have to see Bentley get burnt time and again on passing downs.

All that being said, I bet we'll see some totally random draft picks

I don’t watch a lot of college football, but Are these guys basically a sure thing like a Waddle or Devonta Smith? I have little to no confidence in Bill’s ability to draft WR’s, so I think it would be best to trade for a player like Cooks who has been in NE and succeeded. Not saying that the Pats shouldn’t continue to draft WR’s, but they really need a WR1 that is ready to come in and contribute right away. The NFL is officiated to favor the offense.
Olave reminds me a lot of Devonta Smith, hence my interest. He's an absolutely fantastic route runner, like Smith, similar physical profile and creates a heap of separation. Metchie is less of a sure thing, but I liked his connection with Mac in college and he was lightning fast pre-injury. He and Jameson Williams both tore their ACL, so both the Bama WR's are a risk.

I love Cooks. Gets 1000 yard seasons in his sleep. If we could nab him I'd do it and not bother drafting a WR.
Metchie is fast enough but he isn't lightning fast.  Of the recent Bama receivers, Ruggs, Waddle and Williams are clearly faster than Metchie.  Saban specifically got Williams in the transfer because they needed a speedy WR this season.  Metchie wasn't a WR1 at Bama so I'd doubt he'd be a WR1 in the NFL.  He's an overall good possession receiver but I wouldn't have taken him in the 1st round before the injury.  However, I wouldn't downgrade him much for the injury.

Don't see the love for Olave.  He was WR3 for OSU this season albeit in a strong WR room.  He couldn't have stepped up like Smith did as WR1 when Waddle was injured to give a Heisman worthy performance.  Wouldn't take Olave in the 1st round either.

(1) Pats have their QB of the future in Mac. Given how expensive the position is, it is great to have him on a rookie deal.

(2) Priority #1 in the draft is a LT. Yes, we have Wynn for one more year (he's gone after that), but we need a starting LT on a rookie deal for the next few years (like with (1) above).

(3) Franchise tag JC Jackson. Seems like a no brainer.

(4) Look into re-structuring Nelson Agholur. He does help to stretch the field, and his contract is more re-structure friendly than Smith, which is why I break it into two parts.

(5) Look for ways to incorporate Jonnu Smith more into the offense. Got to do more with this guy in the offense. The Pats dont really save anything by cutting him, given the guarantees, so I dont see him being cut, and what incentive does he have to a restructured deal?

(6) Cap space permitting, try to sign someone like Mike Godwin. Pipe dream, I know, but would be so awesome.

(7) Assuming LT for the first pick (see (1) above), use picks in next 3 rounds for D. Need some upgrades.
A fusion of Mike Evans and Chris Godwin? Or the author?

Well, it did work in Dragonball Z. And I agree, it would be awesome..

How the hell do you run a QB keeper there?  They could have had two shots at the end zone.  Instead they got none.

Fantastic game that lived up to expectations!

But yeah, I'm a Dak fan and think he's elite, but that team (particularly the defense) and coaching staff (besides Moore) is a joke. Tends to cost them in the really big moments.

Stunned that we're near the end of the 1st and this KC-PIT game is still 0-0. Mahomes also threw an INT earlier.

I posted that fairly early in the game.  Didn't expect the defense to make no stops, but that is exactly correct.  Mac was put in handcuffs all season long and the entire coaching staff emasculated him on national tv in the first Bills game.  I don't think it is a coincidence at all that after that game, the Patriots only win was Jacksonville and Mac play bad and significantly worse than he had played all season long.  He never recovered from his coaches embarrassing him on national tv and frankly not really believing in him to win close games the entire season.  When it was a choice of letting Mac go out and try and win a game with his arm, the Patriots kicked field goals, ran the ball, or punted.  They didn't trust Mac enough to let him make throws and try to win the game.  And that is how you end up finishing a promising season with 1 win in your last 5 games.

Chiefs can't mess around too much longer.  If the Steelers are in this game in the 4th, Ben will come through as he has been fantastic all season long in the 4th quarter.  He can't play at a high level all game long, but he shines in the 4th.  And for as good as Mahomes is, Watt might very well be the best player on the field.  He can just disrupt everything.

Lol. 42 points later ...

For a few minutes early on, I was worried we'd have to see Big Ben instead of Pat Mahommes as the QB representative in the next round from this game.
