You mean Mac Jones can't throw the ball, who knew?  I mean the Patriots didn't since they wouldn't let him even try all season.
Man, imagine watching our defense and thinking Mac is the issue.

Been that way all year. People listen to the talking heads on espn too much and think Mac cant throw us back into games like he hasnt done it multiple times
everyone got so sensitive after 9-11... thanks alot bin laden

I mean seriously, Buffalo's punter is probably just chilling at his house today and probably schedules vacations when they play the Pats. Pretty sure that's now 11 straight drives dating to the last meeting between these two teams where Buffalo has scored.

For all the talk about Mac being a rookie, literally nothing matters if this defense can't stop anyone. They are TERRIBLE and I mean, if people are expecting Mac to be able to put up 40+ then they are crazy. And it's unreasonable to expect a rookie QB to do that.

Oh and I'm not excusing McDaniels here. Mac has a nice first drive, which included a Bolden drop (good throw) and then that insane INT which was another great throw but better defense. BUT then the next drive they go 3-and-out with 3 straight runs.

McDaniels and Steve Belichick can stay in Buffalo after this game for all I care  >:(

I don't think Bill is going to retire before passing Shula. I'm fine with him as the head coach. However, it's time for him to give up the GM position. It's been near impossible for anyone his age to be a successful head coach, let alone adding GM responsibilities on top of it.

It's not the loss itself that I'm sad about, it's HOW they looked. My god the defense was atrocious. I mean, 7 drives, 7 TDs for Buffalo and even the previous time these teams met, the Bills never punted.

Easily one of the worst games overall for the Pats in a long, long time and it sucks that it happened against a division rival in a playoff game.

I'm still high on Mac Jones though and still am pleased with the overall season for the Pats. Historically it's hard for any rookie QB to even reach the playoffs, let alone win a postseason game. Also, last night wasn't primarily on him at all. In fact I'd say he was the least of our concerns. Bourne and Mac were like the only guys on the team last night who showed up.

How do people feel about that Pats now that their season has concluded?

Obviously the loss last night was brutal, but overall I think the season went well. 10-7, made the playoffs, Mac outperformed all other rookie QB’s by a wide margin.

Expectations are going to be high going into next season and the Pats really need to get Mac some legitimate help at the WR position. The addition of Jonnu Smith and Nelson Agholor, who were the most expensive offensive acquisitions (combined $23.5M/year) has been a big swing and miss. They both need to have their contracts restructured.  As a comparison, this season Steffon Diggs and Devante Adams both made $14.5M. Myers and Bourne seem like decent 2nd and 3rd options, but the Pats need a #1 this can stretch the field. Would love to have Brandin Cooks back...

At some point you have to blame the performance on the court on the players on the court. Every loss is not the coach's fault and every win isn't because of the players.

Agreed with everything. I'm more shocked about Jonnu disappearing as much as N'Keal Harry. Like he was one of our most expensive signings this offseason and I almost forgot he was on the field for most the last two months.

They definitely need a WR1, but also the whole defense needs to get more physical, faster and younger. You could tell guys like Hightower, McCourty, KVN, etc. have all aged and lost a step and they need to address it. Won't be easy but that'll be the biggest area of improvement that needs to happen, the LB and pass rush on our defense. I don't think the secondary is that bad, but when the QB has all day to throw and also the LBs are slow or can't really cover, it just makes the secondary look worse when they get burned from time to time.

Terrible take, yet nonetheless unsurprising.

It was a definite positive overall. Mac is pretty seriously competent, Harris and Stevenson will be a good RB tandem for a few years, and we've got some good young defenders like Barmore. I was pretty happy with the overall outcome.

A receiver like Chris Olave or John Metchie in the draft would be a good target for us I reckon. A true WR1. I'd also love a speedy MLB so we don't have to see Bentley get burnt time and again on passing downs.

All that being said, I bet we'll see some totally random draft picks
