Among top trade targets for the Celtics: Detroit’s Jerami Grant, sources said. Grant is having a breakout season, averaging 23.4 points, 5.3 rebounds, 2.9 assists and 1.1 steals per game. He is a leader for the Most Improved Player of the Year award.

As long as he's okay with going back to a smaller role, I'd love it. He left Denver for Detroit for a reason, though.

I just don't want another Rozier situation, where a guy gets a taste of what he can do in a big role and then gets mad when he's behind better players again.
I'm bitter.

For the right price, I'd love it. A wing trio of Brown/Tatum/Grant would be dynamite defensively.

He is of course the perfect fit; if he wants to go back to a top team he has to accept his 3rd option role. I think also last year it was not that funny in Houston...
But I don't know which package they would want... Maybe they need more SG and PF as they have Hayes/Bey/Stewart (?) + Doumbouya (?) to buld theur future. I don't want to give Smart for him.
Whatever I would give one of Pritchard/ Rob and one of Nesmith/Langford + our first this year. Grant has a very good contract also which increase his value.

We could even try to save TPE for summer :
Thompson/Pritchard/Nesmith + 1 or 2 first
Sign Cousins with Kanter TPE

Kemba/Smart/Waters
Brown/Langford/Green
Tatum/Ojeleye
Grant/Theis
Rob/Cousins/Tacko

Tatum at 3, Rob with more playing time with still conurrence (Cousins and Theis). This would be a deadly spacing and defensive team.

Smart & Grant for Jerami & Ellington works in trade machine but doubt Detroit would do that
C/PF-Horford, Baynes, Noel, Theis, Morris,
SF/SG- Tatum, Brown, Hayward, Smart, Semi, Clark
PG- Irving, Rozier, Larkin

I really like Jerami Grant -- think he's perfect.  2 more years after this at an commensurate salary (20M).

Why would Detroit want to trade him?   If I were Detroit GM I'd be thinking Grant+ for Brown rather than Grant as the best player in the deal.

I'm pretty terrible at guessing what GMs would take in trades, but it seems to me that C's would have to start with Smart and then hope Detroit sees a very good prospect in one (or 2) of Pritchard, Rob, Romeo, Nesmith.  And then draft picks.

Can absolutely see Ainge trading for Bjelica as a low commitment move....

If I were to look at Detroit's position, I'd assume they'd value a first round pick more than Smart. I don't think they desire win now players, if they are indeed looking to trade Grant.

Don't see why Detroit would want Smart. They'd want rookie contract players and draft picks....

I'd do it in a heartbeat for that package.. that said I'd take Vuv before him if the offers to acquire are similar.

I wouldn't want to trade Smart, because I'm just a fanboy at heart. Regardless of my emotions, I feel like if you have a chance to get Grant on your team you need to take it.

I doubt Detroit would move him, though. Despite our interest.
