Wouldn't that be classic. Buy high on a guy having a breakout year when he is getting more than double his career FGAs. This would be a bad move

First, we don't know what he would cost. He's a very good player, but not a superstar, and Detroit is a very long way from even being mediocre. They'd probably be better off losing more at this point. It really depends on what the deal would have to be.

Second, I really don't care about getting a good deal any more. We have two young foundational players and we need guys who fit them. Grant is a perfect compliment at a slot where we haven't got anyone close to a real NBA starter. Our defense would be off the charts. If we overpay, so what?

I guess in terms of trading, an overpay wouldn't be the end of the world. But paying $20m for a guy who would at best average 13/5 with good defence while likely being unhappy with his role sounds like a bad move for me.

Despite Grant's length and theoretical ability to play good defence, he's really never been anything besides a handy defender. Not sure where the idea of him being elite, or close to, on defence has come from.

I'd just assume ride out the season, get everyone healthy, and see where we stand at season's end.

Smart's return will be significant.

Kemba is looking like his old self.

Jayson and Jaylen will get some rest, and recharged.

Rob Williams should continue to help solidify our 5 spot.  Tristan and Theis both playing well.

Romeo could very well help with our wing depth, and make us reconsider what our needs are in the off season.

I am skeptical even with a big trade for Grant or Vuc that we have the talent to beat the Nets; or even the Sixers, at least not this season.

In off season, value of Barnes will drop because he has less time left on his contract.  Should be other choices for the TPE, more than there are before the trade deadline.  Plus our assets should have more value by the off season; young players generally get better with minutes (including Pritchard and Nesmith).

Be patient.

obviously you are new here.

Democracy begins with freedom from hunger, freedom from unemployment, freedom from fear, and freedom from hatred.

Bjelica.

this is the name I would guess the Celts will actually get.

any hope that PJ Tucker might have a Batum-esque turnaround if he's on a good team again?

Tucker and Bjelica wouldn't be sexy but if those guys play like they were playing just a year or so ago, they would be very good additions.

Bjelica is the perfect "big who can shoot" that Danny"s looking for, plus he's also a decent rebounder.  He could do wonders for our spacing. Imagine him being the open guy instead of Semi or Grant. Am not too sure about his D though.

Does Jerami Grant play elite defense, and can he shoot threes at a high clip...

Is the ONLY question that needs to be asked.

(Actually does he play elite defense? He is average from 3.

I'd say he's an above average shooter (38% over his last 3 seasons) and is a good defender. Not elite at anything, but is benefiting majorly from being the #1 option on a terrible team. He's a solid defender, but people are quick to overrate him because of his physical tools.

Grant is a really good player. Not an All-Star and not good enough to lead a good team but if he put his ego away, he could be an excellent 3rd/4th option on a title team.

Kinda makes you wonder, if Jerami Grant can go from Denver to Detroit and have that type of counting stats increase, what type of numbers could Jayson or Jaylen put up if they were a #1 on a bad team.

If guys like Zach Lavine can average nearly 30 then the Jays could probably border on 35 ;D
