Delon Wright?

Delon had a great game vs us recently. He has been playing very well for Detroit until a recent abductor injury sidelined him until all star break. He has been rumored as trade bait for the rebuilding Pistons. Killian Hayes is the future PG for them, and Wright wouldn't be a short term rental, gets $8.5 mm next season.

He could be a good future experienced PG for us on a reasonable contract, has great length, plays both sides, penetrates well, is savvy.  If Kemba continues to decline, he could be a good replacement without trading the farm.  On Piston sites they speculate he would be worth a late first round pick.

I know the focus on trade ideas has been wings and bigs, but I'm starting to think we should also consider veteran point guards who have good play making skills and won't cost a lot in a trade.

I posted another thread about Rondo.  Delon intrigues me even more.

I kind of like Wright, but this would be an example of buying high.
The Pistons acquired Wright for the 'corpse' of Ariza.

He's always been a solid bench guard with size. Would be infinitely better than Teague

He shoots 47 overall and 38 from 3 with about5 rebounds, 5 assists and almost 2 steals a game.  I will take it

Wright has shot 35% from 3 for his career, averaging fewer than 1 made three per game. This year he’s shooting a little better, averaging 38%, but he’s still made only 28 3s in 29 games, implying that a) his improvement this year could simply be the product of small sample size, rather than anything showing an increased skill level, and b) he’s not someone who is actually an outside threat, given his low attempt rate.  He’s not a bad shooter as much as he is a non-shooter, and certainly doesn’t seem like the type of player worth giving up a 1st round pick for.

Upgrade over Teague?? Seriously??

We need to spend 8mil a year for a 3rd string PG? Why?

I do not understand this desire for a new backup PG. We have a great backup PG in Pritchard who needs to continue to play to develop & there is simply no need to pay more than the minimum for a 3rd stringer.

Wright would probably be able to be our back-up 2 as well, assuming Smart returns as a starter and that Langford continues to be a mythical beast. Wright worked well alongside Brunson IIRC
