That Bam Adebayo stuff at the rim has made Tatum paint shy.

Didn't watch the game but just saw box score then came here to see what was said about Tatum and looks like Brown is the one getting dogged?

Tatum only scored 9pts  shooting 22%, and this is our superstar? Yea brown had 4 TOs  but 22% is terrible for someone who is suppose to be go to guy. Off night in a major way, worried slightly about how Covid has potential affected him be could continue???

Can we not worry about this??

We won

Can't have it both ways

People killing him calling him selfish and ball stopping

So he tried today to make the extra pass and do the other things.   It led to others having good games. And we win

I will take it.

He still shot 18 times and this is the second straight game shooting 20% and looking out of it or tired. May be something to note or keep an eye on...... But really I was just getting at if anyone else shot 18 + times and shot 20% in back to back games. There would be a ton of concern and posts about that player, it seems.

Kemba and Tatum are similar in that both need to "warm" up with the ball

Celtics chose to let Walker handle the ball because he is the pg and not very good off the ball.  He was able to push the pace and did a good job of mixing -- getting his shot and passing it to others

Tatum was good at playing off the ball with pace in his rookie season, and needs to re learn how to excel at this

IF Tatum brings up the ball there could be a good chance he will get trapped/double teamed.   And with the clock ticking makes life harder for guys like Kemba to get their game going

Tatum and Brown both look worn out...it was nice to see the other guys carry them for a change..Brown almost looked like he was shaving points....ha.

I think they're both finding it's very hard to consistently be a top 10 type player in this league. The top players have a small standard deviation between a good game and a bad game - they consistently play at a high level and find ways to impact the game if their shot is not falling. If you want to average 26 a game you can either have a number of games where you score 40+ to cover for the games you score 10-15, or you can be more consistent. They'll get there though, they're only young.

And yes the great players don't do it all themselves, they get the rest of the team involved. If the rest of the team is scoring and impacting the game it makes it easier for everyone else to score.

Problem is they do not accept that they are young, they really think they are ready. Again I say they are NOT.

They’re not ready alone.  Last season they had Kemba, Hayward, Smart.  When Hayward wasn’t there and Kemba’s injury didn’t heal, it showed.  We’re seeing a remix of that this year, except without Smart as well.

That nonsense with Tatum bringing up the ball needs to stop. Not his role, not his place. It is selfish, it is ball stopping, it selfishly deprives other players their role on the court. Probably one reason his legs are tired by the fourth quarter.

Development goes at its pace regardless of where you think you are.  If Jays leap too far too soon their developmental level will tell them they aren’t ready.  As it may be doing now.  What they need to do is be open to seeing it and then mature enough to positively get  back on course.  Good coaching can help a ton with this.

Yup

I didnt understand having both Tatum and Brown go off in the 1st half game plan

2nd half = trap Tatum. And the other players were cold. So just pass it to Tatum

There will be times in the 2nd half ... tight game. Everyone tightly guarded.  To let Tatum go 1 on 1

But in general or vs Miami heat zone D. Cant go 1 on 1 ... otherwise lose games

Only if they accept the coaching.
