I was skeptical when they presented Kemba as a leader when we signed him and I was thinking what has he ever lead Charlotte too.   I recall him in the NCAAs though.

I think Brown would like to be a leader but does not know how.   Tatum is not a leader.   Rob plays hard every but he does not have the gravitas to lead our stars.   Smart tries to lead but suffers the same problems as Rob as far as leadership and takes bad shots.   Which leaves us with what?   A glaring lack of leadership.   I know Kyrie said our guys do not know how to win but he was not a leader either.  IT lead by example.   We have not have a bonafide leader since KG.
Leading is always a delicate matter to navigate. There are a lot of egos in the NBA. A lot of guys think they are better than they are and are overconfident ---- then you have guys like Tatum that don't quite want the responsibilities that come with being a leader.
The good thing is they can change... See Lebron was an immature diva in Cleveland but then he grew up (also decided to become a role model for a whole generation) and found the right balance of leading by example and being vocal. I think Tatum can figure it out and also if Brown starts dominating on the court he can claim the leadership role firmly. They are just too young.
I am not sure Smart can be a leader as he has too many stinkers on the court and feelings almost always get the best of him. We need someone consistent like Steph Curry or Tim Duncan to fill the void in the meantime...

Danny needs to step in and fire at least half of Brad’s staff. We need some former NBA players, especially some guys who have a little fire.

I wonder what KG is up to these days....
Quoting Nick from the now locked Ime thread:

At some point you have to blame the performance on the court on the players on the court. Every loss is not the coach's fault and every win isn't because of the players.

Does anyone actually know what's going on inside the locker room? Who is standing up to who?

Sometimes the problem is some people refuse to follow. Personally I think if Walker and Smart were moved out, the leadership on this team would be settled. Neither guy is listening to Stevens, so why would they listen to Tatum or Brown?

I wonder what KG is up to these days....

On his way to becoming a billionaire and enjoying life. Probably not interested in becoming an assistant coach!

Yeah, doubt KG would bother. Same with McHale - both of whom I would have loved to be involved in our staff.

Would be very okay bringing in some ex-C's like Tony Allen though. A bit more grit n grind would go a long way

I love Leon Powe! He really did go quietly.

According to this: https://www.si.com/college/cal/basketball/powe-big-in-2008-finals-game-2, as of 2020 he's worked for us in a non-coaching role. Would love to see him on the bench

tony allen? a coach? he was never known for his deep thinking as a player.
I believe Gandhi is the only person who knew about real democracy — not democracy as the right to go and buy what you want, but democracy as the responsibility to be accountable to everyone around you. Democracy begins with freedom from hunger, freedom from unemployment, freedom from fear, and freedom from hatred.

Not so much there for his deep thinking. Would really only be there to keep guys accountable and give us some fire on the bench

I think you figured out the problem.

Evan has a 3 pt% even lower than Smart. No wonder our team's 3 pt% has been deteriorating recently. 😁

I'd pay KG and McHale good money to just give our bigs qualitative advice.
