Pompey from the Philly Inquirer had the story. Said that Toronto isn't super interested in moving Lowry, but as show of loyalty and good will, would move Lowry to a championship level team he wanted to go to as long as they got some decent assets back. The 3 teams that are apparently in play are the Clippers, Sixers, and Heat. The Clippers would give him the best shot at a title this year, but he is from Philly and would apparently love to play for them while he could still meaningfully contribute. The Heat are a distant 3rd, though easily could make the best offer.
Lowry makes 30.5 million, but the Sixers can get more than halfway there by including Danny Green's expiring 15.4 million dollar contract. They also have Scott's 5 million expiring contract. So then they just need to add an asset or two.
Lowry for Green, Scott, Maxey, Korkmaz, 21 1st, NY 21 2nd.
That is a decent return for an expiring contract on a player that isn't going to return the next season anyway. Milton instead of Maxey could also work and I imagine if they had to they'd probably include Thybulle.
So that would leave the Sixers as Lowry, Curry, Harris, Simmons, Embiid with Milton, Howard, Thybulle, Bradley. Need some bench help, but that team would be an even bigger threat to come out of the East with that sort of trade.
