Starting a conversation for a shooting big

After tonight’s performance against the pelicans I think it’s pretty clear we need a shooting 4/5. We looked so much better when Timelord was out there with 4 others guys that could shoot (tatum, brown, pritchard, nesmith and probably not going include walker. In the modern NBA I think you can only have 1 non shooting big through the rotation and Williams and Thompson just isn’t working. A Myles Turner type would be perfect (thanks for nothing Ainge), but who else is out there that we could get for Thompson and some other pieces?

This post sounds tone deaf. I watched a game where our centers played very well. Frankly the last two games in a row.

We took a step back today because Jaylen and Kemba were shooting blanks, and the vets didn't trust our rookies with the ball on double teams. Too many forced bad shots. Don't know if the outcome would have been different, but I suspect so.

Bjelica is the only guy out there who seems probably available and maybe gettable.  I don't buy that the Celts have enough to make Orlando trade Vucevic. 

Is Bjelica enough of an upgrade on offense?  The Celts defense is not good right now and Bjelica only makes things harder on that end.


Barnes seems like the best bet, which is why he's the name thrown around most these days.  But the Kings probably want to keep him so long as they have any hope of making a play-in.

Bobby Portis or that Pacers PF (Thad Young, Domantas, Bojan whoever) we can never ever get for some reason would be nice.

Not sure a shooting big is our need. A bench wing/guard who can shoot would be nice. Nesmith will be that guy next year, but he's still raw.

If we were looking at obtainable bigs that even reasonably fit our system I'd say:

Jarrett Allen
Myles Turner 
Al Horford
Richaun Holmes
Hasan Whiteside
Ivica Zubac

These are all bigs that would actually be starting on our team. Of this group my favorites for starting bigs we may be able to get I would like Jarret Allen or Myles Turner because they are all 2 way players that give us a stretch element with shot blocking ability and I think could actually be solid starters in the NBA. Ultimately unless we are swinging for the fences for someone like Pascal Siakam (which I still don't think would make us a contender) there's nobody that would make us a championship contender.

I’ve been wanting a big that can shoot for a while but I wonder if a point guard that can create and score a little is just as crucial.
Our one on one ball hurts us quite often. And in general just anyone in the bench that can score would be nice.

Force feed him minutes and he won't be raw by the end of the season. Miami did it last year with Hero.

I wouldn't be opposed to this at all. More minutes for Nesmith, less for Ojeleye. Curious if Romeo can contribute this year too

Ha, yeah, there's definitely that. I think our coaching has a real issue with holding players accountable when they're playing badly. It's why I'd like us to move on from Brad

I am getting to that point. TIMELORD glued to the bench, 21 minutes 13 boards 4 blocks 4-6 shooting 3 assists. Pritchard and Nesmith combined 5-7, 3 steals, 3 assists, 4 rebounds 1 TO.

Don’t get me wrong they have been playing well, but I don’t see us as a genuine contender when either Theis or Thompson are starting. Obviously Smart will come back and id say one would go to the bench but even still, whichever one gets the start I wouldn’t say is the caliber we need to compete effectively down low. I love Theis but I think i’d rather Thompson as a back up centre just because of his physical presence. Theis shoots the 3 well but isn’t a great rebounder and is very undersized

I started the day with a call from my employer that I got a contract extension and a pay raise.
The weather is nice, birds are whistling and I was happy.

Now I read this and I'm depressed again
