I have heard a lot of doom and gloom, and a need for a fairly massive trade to get the Celtics to the finals and a shot at a ring. I see a Celtics team with a lot of wonderful pieces. But some have needed time to recover or acclimate to a mew team - Kemba, Tatum (recovering fully after Covid - I think him not feeling fully back even once he has been playing has been undervalued), Thompson. Nesmith took a while to acclimate also. And they have never been able to get into a rhythm as important pieces kept missing time. I think we are a Harrison Barnes and a little consistent health away from going on a hell of a run and making the finals.
I am kind of agree with you, but maybe we are still a little too young. We are closer than we think because we have 80% of a dominant team need. But we are not there yet. And I am afraid of what a quiet big trade will cost.
Say 15% of the way is about the progression of Brown and more of Tatum. Tatum still have to polish his game and to improve as a leader. 5% is about finding a better bench; but we may already have a decent to good future bench with Smart, Rob, Pritchard, Nesmith, Langford.
The recent decision to give almost all bench playing time to Rob, Pritchard and Nesmith may show that we focus more in progression next years than in winning now.
Whatever I guess we still have a chance to pass in the final as all east teams have inconstancy and mental/cohesion/bench concerns.
