Some of us want to shake up the roster, light the proverbial fire, while keeping Kemba and TT so we can more easily attract free agents in the future (Teague is one-and-done, so no harm there). Basically, many of us believe half our team is weak and holding us back, so there is a desire to see us move about half of the team for our third piece of a new Big 3 in 23 year old John Collins, along with a couple vets who can contribute during the playoffs (Barnes is going to cost too much in all likelihood; he’s basically a perfect fit for the Kings). Adding vets would include the return of a fan favorite who may know Tom Brady’s secret to aging gracefully considering his recent play. This fan favorite would also be the perfect mentor to Collins, putting him in the best position for future growth/success (please think of that intangible when considering this fan favorite’s contract, not to mention the fact these two players would bring in a combined 25 PPG/15 RPG/10 APG on a consistent basis):

1st trade:

BOS In: Collins, Horford (if you guessed it, congrats!)
BOS Out: R. Williams, Langford, Nesmith, Teague, ‘23 1st, ‘25 1st, ‘21 2nd, ‘22 2nd, Hayward TPE

Why we do it: Dramatically improve our front-court by creating a Big 3 in their early/mid 20s, and giving our 23 year old star-in-the-making the best mentor any PF could ask for. We’re talking about replacing clueless youth and the ghost of Teague, along with a few draft picks, for a consistent 25 PPG/15 RBG/10 APG this year, next year, and our 23 year old final piece of the puzzle for years to come. This is it, perhaps our final opportunity to consolidate the “assets” and turn them into the completion of a true Big 3 with the Super Jay Bros. (Who can become the Super J Bros. with John joining).

ATL In: R. Williams, Langford, Nesmith, Teague, ‘23 1st, ‘25 1st
ATL Out: Collins, Snell, Hill,  Fernando

Why they do it: Collins wants out and nobody can outbid the above, right? The partner below allows them to dump some overpaid guys to make way for the new youth, who can perhaps be salvaged...

OKC In: Snell, Hill, Fernando, ‘21 2nd, ‘22 2nd, Hayward TPE
OKC Out: Horford

Why they do it: Great return on Horford and they move a ton of $’s off the books in a matter of weeks.

2nd Trade for some depth:

BOS in/DET Out: Ellington, Okafor
BOS Out/DET In: G. Williams, Edwards, Green, ‘23 2nd

Why we do it: We can use Ellington and Okafor come playoffs and next year in Okafor’s case (also frees up being able to trade TT at the deadline next year if the opportunity presents itself).

Why they do it: Add a second and a couple potential rotational players in their early 20s? Sure, why not?

After Detroit buys out Griffin, we can still afford him at the minimum without crossing the hard cap (thank you Atlanta for taking on Teague), and we can make a playoff run with some serious depth:

Walker/Smart/Pritchard
Brown/Ellington
Tatum/Theis/Ojeyele
Collins/Griffin
Horford/TT/Okafor

Riding the bench: Waters or Fall

Sounds like title 18, huh?

Aggregate summary: https://tradenba.com/trades/6766xojP8

Remaining picks, so there’s still plenty of draft work/guessing to be done (i.e., not selling the whole farm by any means):

‘21 1st
‘22 1st
‘24 1st
‘25 2nd
‘25 MEM 2nd
All picks in 2026-beyond

The following are under contract (RFA Collins will get the max) come the off-season, so we’d have to bring back Theis and/or Ojeyele, and add a ring-chasing vet who can play the 3/2:

Walker/Pritchard/Madar (Draft & Stash)
Brown/Smart
Tatum/2021 1st round pick
Collins
Horford/TT/Okafor

We’d be in a great position if we nailed our 2021 and 2022 1sts like we did with Pritchard. Attracting ring-chasing vets, and giving Horford one final contract at a fraction of what it is now, will be huge.

Put the trader back in “Trader Danny,” Danny!!

Why do we want someone who never won a ring to mentor our big 3? ;)

As much as I like Horfiord - we don't need another player that can't play back to back games in this compressed season.

Wow, that is a complicated transaction.  My big trade idea was to get Thad Young for a pick.  Maybe I need to start thinking bigger. ;)

Atlanta and I think OKC will say no. Atl wants a high lottery pick or all nba player for Collins.....not a bunch of lesser pieces where they already have depth. Also I have seen absolutely nothing that said Collins wants out of Atlanta.

And I doubt Okc who is rebuilding is going to want to take on Hayward’s contract.

Why are we giving up so much for Collins? That’s what 5 first rounders / picks? Sorry I must have missed the part where Anthony Davis is joining our team. Collins is a good rotational player on a below average team that has no noteworthy accomplishment. He’s not the person you give up everything for.

AD would get a lot more that....future non lottery picks or recent 1st round picks that have shown nothing or minimal aren’t that valuable.

We can’t afford to keep Collins next year. Why do we give up that much for a rental

Where is this myth that we can’t afford another contract coming from? The Cs literally offered Hayward 4 years and almost $110 million dollars. I don’t think re-signing Collins would be an issue.

Yeah, right? I keep hearing this too.

We can afford him (it would hurt Wyc, but that's not our problem!)

Chris Paul or Draymond Green

Jays would make or break under these two

Al Horford is too much of a nice guy

Well, here’s my dream five-team trade that gives us everything we really need with a new small-ball lineup (helps get GSW out of cap hell, gives the Knicks two solid pieces in home team Kemba and Oubre, gives Hawks adequate compensation for Collins, and gets OKC Randle to help build around):

https://tradenba.com/trades/MNNa57HAl

Hill/Payton/Pritchard
Brown/Smart/Wanamaker
Tatum/Theis/Bazemore
Green/Griffin (Buyout)
Collins/Horford/TT

Re-sign Theis and Wanamaker in the off-season and roll with:

Pritchard/Hill/Madar
Brown/Smart/Wanamaker
Tatum/Theis/2021 1st round pick
Collins/Green
Horford/TT/Ring-chasing 5/4 vet

  • STAND FIRM, SAY NO TO VIBE MEN
Just give us quality depth pieces like Hill and Ariza and we'll be golden

People really underestimate how playing crap players as key rotation pieces tanks a team.
