Sherrod breaks down Ainge interview with Dan Shaughnessy this morning.

Basically zero/little blame on Brad. And blames himself and some of the players instead (not playing up to expectations, not taking lesser opponents seriously).

Does not want to hit the panic button and make trades (because it may not fix the underlying problem). But at this rate may have to.

How can he simultaneously blame himself but not want to make trades? Does not the blaming of himself indicate that the roster construction isn't good?

Lol I'm glad Ainge just said what is clear as day. Maybe Celtics fans can wake up and realize that Danny basically handed Brad a bare bones roster and expected him to somehow improve off last year.

“The record of our team is on me,” Ainge told BostonSportsJournal.com in a phone interview Monday.

who knows what he actually thinks...

He probably just wants to get to the All-Star break and then reevaluate whether any of the young guys (besides Pritchard) have shown reason to believe they can help the team.

I personally think we should consider trading Thompson--despite all of his positives. Williams needs to see the court as much as possible, and Theis has proven he's back to his playoff version. Thompson just doesn't score enough or shore up the defense enough to be worth eating into either of those guys' minutes.

I don't know but I think Brad and Danny live somewhat by "you aren't as bad as your worst game and not as good as your best".   Making knee-jerk trades in the midst of the team's worst stretch is probably something Danny is cautious about. I doubt Danny wants to stand pat though.

This is more or less empty. What did you expect DA to say? Blame Brad? Blame guys for taking games off?

Taking the blame is meaningless. Doing something to fix the mess you've made means something. Actions not words, Danny.

Ainge, how much did Brad pay you just to say that it's your fault?

It's clearly Stevens' fault, 70% of it. 20% of it goes to Ainge and 10% goes to the rest of the players. Wyc should also get some blame too.

You're putting way too much on Stevens and not nearly enough on the players.

NBC Boston just showed a montage of plays on which the Celtics did not compete against the Wizards.

Tatum clearly led the way in total noncompetitiveness. He looked like a buffoon out there. And Brown had zero assists.

Our stars need to show some leadership and actually play basketball. There have been challenges this season, but many other teams have faced the same, except that our guys are folding up shop. There is no excuse getting blown out by the Wizards when we have 3 all-stars starting, the same guys who went to the ECF. Additional role players aren't going to solve that problem. Stars have to have heart and leadership, not just talent.
