Highlights from last night

15pts including 3 from long range. Third one was something nobody has seen before. 4 reb and 2 blocks

https://youtu.be/Re87aKsA-R0

Jump shot stroke looks revamped. Like he knows its going in after snap of the wrist.

Was rooting for him to make his FTs. Missed the final 2. Its all a mental/confidence thing with him now

Overall I would say it was his best game as Celtic.

Agreed. He was also more aggressive inside on the boards.  And he did most of his work as a 4 rather than small ball 5, which is where our greatest need is.  Very encouraging development. We forget how young these guys are; that it takes time to figure stuff out.

Sometimes you need to bench a guy to wake him up. GW tends to take things lightly maybe not playing a few games made him more focused and aggressive.

I expect after a few games he might need to be benched again though. Just seems that kind of thing.

Good call. Thats been the pattern.

Also when he starts off the game and misses one or two 3s right off the bat,   he starts to avoid taking the shots

He has to forget about it, and try to make the next one.

He is shooting the 3 ball very well and if he continues to do that he may be able to stay in the league. I don’t think he will ever be good defensively, though. He’s just too short, not athletic and not quick. A lot of people are hoping that he will turn into a Draymond Greene or PJ Tucker type player, however,  I do not think he has the physical tools to do so.

At some point you have to blame the performance on the court on the players on the court. Every loss is not the coach's fault and every win isn't because of the players.

You know that Green/Tucker also have the same negative attributes right?   Or close to

Tucker is overrated if you ask me.   He is not even a reliable 3 pt shooter.

Green has never been a good 3 pt shooter.  He is a black hole on offense right now other than setting screens and making passes.  His game has regressed

Grant Williams has a shot to become a more legit 3 and D guy imo.  He just has to break through the "mental" barrier.

Like you said there are shortcomings,  so its not like he could be a top level 3 and D like Jeremi Grant.  But still a unique (strength)/serviceable one

Besides awful Teague, I've been most critical of Grant this season. Early in the year he looked to be out of shape and was in slow motion on offense.

Regardless, he's played a lot better as of late. He's a nice change of pace when we throw him in at the big position -- and seems to have a good connection with Tatum on the court.

This is what he is capable of doing.

Now let's see some consistency.   If he had this, he would be pushing for that starting PF spot.

Even with improvement, the Cs need an upgrade at the 4.

If the Cs do not seek an upgrade by the trade deadline, that tells me that the Cs are not serious title contenders this year.

I am in complete agreement.   The Celtics need a starter/6th man quality vet to add to this team that plays with consistency.

Tucker and Green in their prime were much more athletic, which allowed them to be very good defenders. Grant Williams Just isn’t. If you are short and don’t have the athleticism and quickness to make up for it, you’re not going to be a good defender.

I chuckle at those who are ready to give up on players after their first year.  There were a few who thought that was one of the best picks/steals of the draft last year.  Maybe he should have been a little more ready, coming out late like he did.  I don't know, but I also know that Brad isn't as adept at getting much out of rookies as other coaches might be.  A lot of times, maybe too many times, I look at a players recruiting status.  ESPN had him as a 4-star recruit, the 26th PF and 6th in the state of NC.  Give him time!

Front Office must really like him, of course they see him everyday. Like what Theis is doing at the 4 also. Not as worried right now, but lets make sure there is some steady play from both.
