on the Ball acquisition front, I'd probably be ok with the TPE and the 21 1st if Boston thought it could re-sign Ball (and even if they had no intention of re-signing, but felt he could really help the team this year).  Seems like the type of trade that could pan out and would definitely provide some Walker and Smart insurance for the year by providing a competent ball handler that is a good defender.  I do think Ball can get back to + defense on a team like Boston that is just a really sound defensive team and away from what is perhaps the worst defensive starting lineup in all of basketball in New Orleans.  So if they would do Ball for 2021 1st, I'd probably do that.  And if it doesn't work out immediately, Boston could still trade Ball this year and try for a different fitting piece.

I think that is fair from a value standpoint but I am not sure it is useful to the Celtics from a fit standpoint.  Aren't we already a little crowded at PG with Walker, Smart, Pritchard, Teague, and Waters all able to play the position?  Maybe if we send back Teague and Waters, but I see no place for him in the rotation otherwise.
Smart isn't a PG and Ball is better than everyone else on the C's bench (i.e. not Walker).

Starters - Luka, JB, Lebron, Wemby, Shaq

This is an god awful trade lol

Why? Value wise? Or you just don't like Lonzo?

I don't mind this trade at all.
Kemba is the best player in the deal and you are attaching multiple picks for the corpse of JJ Redick and Lonzo Ball. I don’t hate ball but the Cs lose this trade by a lot.

Kemba has proven to be a good-stats-bad-team guy. Career 41% from the field and 35% from 3.  Never averaged more than 5.9 assists. He’s not good with Boston snd he’s frankly not worth the money. Charlotte fleeced us three times by getting Rozier, getting Hayward, and getting us to sign Kemba. MJ with the three-peat all over Danny’s face.

Yikes, why the hell would we give up picks in this?

To dump Kemba and secure the services of a 23 year-old pass-first defensive PG who might be a great fit with Stevens and Co. Kemba might never recover so we need to offset that risk with 1-2 picks. Considering we have the Jays locked up in 2023, very confident neither pick will be in the lottery, so they’re not that valuable (for every Pritchard, there’s how many James Young’s and Dancing Bears?)

Exactly. Lonzo’s FG and 3P %’s this year are better than Kemba’s career averages. His shooting is fine and he fits way better beside Jaylen and Jayson. I would cut off body parts if we could find a way to get off Kemba’s salary and pick up Lonzo at the same time.

I mean... who are the 13% who think this trade is a good idea? Yikes.

Smart is a combo guard who plays plenty as a PG.  A healthy Walker get 30 min or so as the PG.  Then right now, we have Smart, Teague, and Pritchard sharing the remaining 18 minutes.  I don't want Ball out there over Smart and I don't really want Smart and Ball out there together.  Sorry, just don't see the need or the fit.

Project Playoff Rotation

PG - Walker 32, Ball 16
SG - Smart 35, Brown 13
SF - Brown 25, Tatum 15, GWilliams/Ojeleye 8
PF - Tatum 25, Theis 23
C - Thompson 30, RWilliams 18

I think that is a better team than what we currently have.  I like Ball as the back-up PG as he is a real PG and a solid defender.  I don't want to rely on a rookie or Teague to actually handle the ball in the playoffs.   Now I get wanting to see what Pritchard can do, but I'd just trust Ball more so I'd absolute acquire Ball if all it took was the 21 1st and the TPE.  Seems like an easy gamble to make.

This is just.. so wrong. Lonzo is currently failing as an off-ball player in a half-court offence, as he is below Zion and Ingram on the pecking order.
