Not start Theis by himself. Not TT. Not TT and Theis.

TL and Theis have shown something interesting  as a frontcourt duo these past few games. On both ends

They can both protect the rim. Theis can shoot the 3 and spread the floor.  TL seems like he is grabbing/tipping the ball 70 percent of the time

Need to stop the bleeding and start winning

Yeah I hope it's become abundantly clear to Brad by now...RWIII needs to get as many minutes as possible. He's the most dynamic guy on the floor for spells of many games. He needs to be out there getting better so he can make a difference come May and June.

Agreed.   TL is the most explosive frontcourt player in in the NBA.  His 1st and 2nd jumps is cat like quick.

Celts have been getting rocked underneath the basket.   Opposing teams just barging their way to the basket

Establish rim protection with Theis and TL.  Make opposing teams think twice before attempting to drive to the basket

I like the idea too... it seems to work.

on the other hand... opponents will be in the bonus even quicker... :D
TL bites on fakes a lot... and Theis is just Theis... (see signature)

I would go for it. I don’t like Theis as the sole big (often gets into foul trouble as he isn’t too physically strong) and the TT-Theis duo sucked hard. These two would have athleticism, defensive intimidation and an interesting ability to play fun roles on offence (vertical spacing + elite screening)
'23 Historical Draft: Orlando Magic.

PG: Terry Porter (90-91) / Steve Francis (00-01)
SG: Joe Dumars (92-93) / Jeff Hornacek (91-92) / Jerry Stackhouse (00-01)
SF: Brandon Roy (08-09) / Walter Davis (78-79)
PF: Terry Cummings (84-85) / Paul Millsap (15-16)
C: Chris Webber (00-01) / Ralph Sampson (83-84) / Andrew Bogut (09-10)

Wouldn’t be surprise if Ainge brings in someone off the waiver wire instead of trade till Smart gets back..

it's time for RWill to move up in the depth chart.  Right now, Theis, RWill, then Thompson gets mop up minutes or as needed minutes.  I was happy with the Thompson signing, wow though, is that turning out bad.

I think they need to groom Semi as the starting power forward in a consistent role. While Smart is out. When Smart gets back. Strong guy, moves his feet, defends anyone. Can stick the corner 3 for spacing.

Robert Williams deserves more minutes and should get them from Thompson.

Very interesting idea. The best lineup in the Lakers game was Theis/TL/Tatum/Brown/Teague in the second half of the third, which gave Boston the lead back.

In that stretch (5:49), LA had only one shot in the paint (the tip at the buzzer, which missed). Even that was after TL came out for the last seven seconds...
'I was proud of Marcus Smart. He did a great job of keeping us together. He might not get credit for this game, but the pace that he played at, and his playcalling, some of the plays that he called were great. We obviously have to rely on him, so I’m definitely looking forward to Marcus leading this team in that role.' - Jaylen Brown, January 2021

Glad I am not the only other person who thought R Williams and Theis were a solid duo. If we need to go small then Semi is a good option till Smart returns. If we get solid returns I wouldn't be opposed to putting ejther Smart or Walker off the bench when we play bigger frontcourts. Thompson and one of Smart or Walker makes the bench much stronger.

Great idea, Tr1boy.  In very limited sample size, the on/off ratings of Theis and R Williams together are through the roof. Just the opposite of Theis/TT performance together.

it's a pairing worth trying out some more but not ready to declare it as a solution for what ails us.  Timelord's team D was still in need of serious work in that game.  Theis was able to cover it up pretty well.

Or, and hear me out on this, let's stop playing two bigs at once because it hasn't been working.

It hasn't worked with Theis and TT.

It has with Theis and Rob, albeit small sample size.
