Here’s a guy who would help:
Former Sixer and veteran NBA journeyman Ersan Ilyasova is reportedly eyeing a return to the NBA, and multiple teams are interested.
Interesting, 6'-9", 33 years old, 2019/20 season with MIL had 6.6 pts and 4.8 rebs in about 16 min per game. So does that put him right ahead of Grant Williams on the depth chart but behind Theis?
I would say so.
A stretch-4 with playoff experience who plays credible defense and adds scoring and rebounding production? My guess is that we will take a hard pass.
I get it, sarcasm. But his scoring and rebounding production last season on MIL was 6 points and 5 rebs. Now he is a year older and coming off a long lay off. Grant Williams is giving us 5 points and 3 rebs in about the same minutes. That is a very modest upgrade to the end of the bench.
With his length, Ersan may match up better defensively to other teams' bigs than Grant Williams. Yeah, he would be a useful player on the bench but it is a pretty modest addition.
Of course, now he is going to sign somewhere and put up double-doubles for a couple of weeks and this forum will light up but what can you do.
