Does anyone know if the league allow 10 day contract type solutions for situations like this?
Don't think so
Celts still have 10 or more players available to play
We're down to 9, are we not? Kemba, Teague, 4 newly out with covid, Langford, Green. 8 out of 17 players? Or is Edwards not out?
I have a feeling I watched a game where only 6 or 7 players dressed for a game. It was due to a bunch of big trades happening all at the same time. Maybe Nellie in Dallas in the mid-90s.
Not 100% sure about this.
I know it's happened a few times.
One famous one was Golden State with Nellie in 2010 and they had only 6 healthy players. But you have to dress at least 8, so 2 injured players were in uniform but not going to play. Then a player got injured 5 mins into a game, and then later another fouled out, so they were down to only 4 healthy players, but the refs made the injured players go in since they were in uniform and they had get "re-injured" to leave the game. Interesting stuff.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fHeAHaxW0nIThen there was the Knicks in 2009. This was when Marbury was sitting out that final year, and the Knicks had made a bunch of trades and also had injuries and didn't had enough players. Knicks offered to let Marbury play (I believe they mutually agreed he would sit out at the beginning of the year) but Marbury declined. The Wizards coach Eddie Jordan got fired because he lost to a team with only 7 available players.
Scroll through the box scores and look at the Knicks lineups from
11/21/08 to about
12/16/08 They're playing only 7 players most of the time, with a lot of "Did Not Dress" and "Not with Team" filling up the box scores.
