What is with third quarters and this team?
Coaching?

I mean they have missed some looks to start but yeah you do have to wonder what goes on at the half. What adjustments isn’t Brad making?

Is Brad Stevens an idiot?? You literally let them go on a 12-0 freakin run before calling a timeout??

Coaches like Spoelstra, Bud, etc. would call one once the lead was lost. SMH

This explanation assumes that Brad is either incapable of noticing that third quarter starts are an issue or is stupid enough to think that continuing to have the team do the same things to start the third will yield a different result.

I don't buy either of those things.

teams make halftime adjustments... other coaches are getting the better of the Cs coaching.

Can anyone point to specific adjustments that other teams are making, though?

I see people blame coaching for poor third quarter starts, but nobody ever provides specific things that Brad is supposed to do differently or changes that the other team has made.

16-2 so far...

Might be a good idea to quit this two big lineup and add some playmaking...

This team is imploding. Stevens continues to show he is not a great coach.

I want to talk about a thing I've noticed happening a lot with this team so far this season:

Guy penetrates the defense, gets into the paint, and ...

Stops.  Because multiple defenders are between him and the basket.  And he has no way of getting up a decent shot without getting blocked.

What follows is an awkward pull-up, fade-away, or rushed pass out to a shooter who is already covered.

There should be a pass out to a shooter if they are packing the paint.

The problem, I think, is that there aren't enough shooters out there that the defense respects.

The other issue is that the defense doesn't fear the roll man / pop man enough.  So you've got a ball handler who penetrates and then has two guys in front of him, and no enticing pass options.
