Marcus Smart a career low 3 FG attempt in 38 min?

I don't remember the last time Smart shot only 3fg in a game.  Usually at least 10

I wonder if one of the media guys spooked him out about the shot selection question

It wouldn't surprise me if that's his season low, but still it bodes well for him understanding his roll. His and everyone else goal is to maximize Jaylen/Jayson, that's how they are gonna win until (and maybe even after) Kemba returns.

I mean it is clearly not his career low.  2 years ago he had multiple games with only 2 FG attempts.  And his rookie year he had multiple games with 0 and multiple games with 1, though he obviously was playing less minutes then (though 1 of the 0 FGA games he played 16.5 minutes).

I’d be thrilled if he matches the number of charges taken with shots taken every game.  Although, that might be a tad bit unrealistic.

It was one of his better games.  I mean that seriously. I thought he played very well last night. He let Jaylen and Jayson do their thing. Was excellent on D.

This is the ideal Marcus Smart. Defers all game, plays amazing defence, and plays within himself - more free throw attempts than field goals. Given his strength that should be a common occurrence.

The Celtics won yesterday because they had only had 6 turnovers over the whole game and forced the Bucks into a ton.
(I know the Celtics also shot exceptionally well, but so did the Bucks)

Biggest contributor to these forced turnovers was Marcus Smart. There should be a stat to account for that!
Like 4 times he stopped Giannis in the post by taking a charge or get a steal. Taking these possessions is huge.

I was proud of Marcus Smart. He did a great job of keeping us together. He might not get credit for this game, but the pace that he played at, and his playcalling, some of the plays that he called were great. We obviously have to rely on him, so I’m definitely looking forward to Marcus leading this team in that role: being sure that everyone is in their spots and giving us direction, because he’s a leader nonetheless.

How does that work?

Miss his first two shots and shut it down for the night? Make two of his first three and get the green light to make it rain?

He is who he is. I don’t care about the number of attempts or the last few makes. Take the good shots, avoid the bad ones. That’s it with him. That’s it with any NBA player. There’s not an open shot I don’t believe he can make at/above the average NBA player.

Marcus had some bad turnovers, but against Jrue which makes it more forgivable (holiday is a top notch defender). He also didn’t shoot when it wasn’t there, which is HUGE in terms of his shot selection.

I’m really happy with how smart played against the Bucks.

Throughout his career on the game thread he has forever blown all of us away with ridiculous game saving/game winning/morale boosting plays. This stuff crushes the opponent time and again.

There are so many head coaches that wish Smart played for them.

The team makes it's money on defense and Smart is the center of the defense.

When he is on the court he makes the calls, his mates look to him to set the example and he sets it. They play hard for him.

Does he take too many stupid shots? Yes and if that's the price, I'll go with it.

Opponent's point guard is bringing the ball up with 23 seconds and Smart is on him. Smart knows his "hand" his tendencies he knows who he wants to pass to and why and all Smart needs if for that point guard to lift his eyes up for a quarter second. The point guard knows this and gets rid of the ball.

Then there is one of his strongest moves, loose ball anywhere...on the court or floating in the air Smart on his way to getting the ball already knows who he is going to pass it to.

Guys a magician and one of the most important things about his game? The other team knows it.

Giannis tripped over Smart three times the other night. Turned the ball over each time.

Smart got Boogie thrown out of two games and got him in foul trouble a bunch of times.
