For the league that already lacks the most in parity (at least of the 4 major American sports), this might not improve the product from a fan perspective.

At the same time, I don’t really care a ton and it would be cool to get a Seattle team back in the fold.

Why the obsession with parity? It’s actually cool to have evil empires like the lakers as long as the referees stay objective..  Also having 4 super teams in each conference makes the playoffs very exciting.
I would take 4 real contenders and 28 non contenders vs 30 average teams

to be fair in each of the last 3 seasons, the 3 major sports have had 5 different teams in the finals with only 1 repeat (GS in NBA, LA in MLB, and NE in NFL).  Now sure, there were 4 straight years where GS v CLE was the final in the NBA, but the NFL has that to some degree.  I mean before the Chiefs last year, the AFC champion for 6 straight years was either New England or Denver, including 3 straight from New England.
2023 Historical Draft - Brooklyn Nets - 9th pick

Bigs - Pau, Amar'e, Issel, McGinnis, Roundfield
Wings - Dantley, Bowen, J. Jackson
Guards - Cheeks, Petrovic, Buse, Rip

The last thing the NBA needs is to "water-down" the product some more...

I am opposed to an expansion.

Me too. I think Seattle should have a team again, but that could be a current team that gets moved to Seattle. There are already too many teams that are basically "NBA wasteland"—teams that are likely to never be good for any sustained length of time, and which basically serve as "feeder teams" for the bigger, richer franchises, because any high-level players they acquire through the draft are likely to leave for big-market teams as free agents. We don't need more teams like that.

I think that is a bad reason to do it, but I do think they should have 32 teams.  Give Seattle a team and maybe St. Louis.  Then you go to 8, 4 team divisions.

East
1 - BOS, NY, PHI, BKN
2 - DET, CLE, TOR, WAS
3 - CHI, MIL, MIN, IND
4 - MIA, ATL, ORL, CHA

West
1 - NO, STL, HOU, MEM
2 - OKC, SAN, DAL, PHO
3 - SEA, POR, SAC, GS
4 - DEN, LAC, LAL, UTA

Play all division teams 4 times each - 12 games
Play same conference 3 times each - 36 games
Play other conference 2 times each - 32 games

80 game schedule (or play an extra division game for 83 game schedule)

Don’t say St. Louis- Tatum might wanna go there.
Louisville instead of St. Louis would work also.  Growing city, big basketball market, and they've never tried a team there so I could absolutely see Louisville be the 2nd team behind Seattle.  I could also see a team in Mexico City, Montreal, or Calgary depending on what the market analysis was.

You can also have some movement in the divisions, but I think what I had made the most sense.

Not sure about Montreal, but I'd benefit most from an expansion there so I'm on board.

correct.

Seattle, Mexico City, and Las Vegas are the top contenders for a franchise. I doubt Missouri or Kentucky is anywhere in the nbas radar

I absolutely think expansion would be good, a long with a reduction in the cap numbers to help prevent the three max player thing.  I dislike the lack of turnover in the large market teams that can "afford it all".

My idea for the future NBA. 4 divisions with 10 teams. 58 games in the regular season and an additional playoff-round.

North East
Boston Celtics
Brooklyn Nets
Chicago Bulls
Cleveland Cavaliers
Detroit Pistons
Indiana Pacers
Milwaukee Bucks
New York Knicks
Philadelphia 76ers
Toronto Raptors

South East
Atlanta Hawks
Baltimore Bullets
Charlotte Hornets
Jacksonville Giants
Kentucky Colonels

Memphis Blues
Miami Heat
New Orleans Jazz
Orlando Magic
Washington Wizards

North West
Denver Nuggets
Golden State Warriors
Las Vegas Venom
Minnesota Timberwolves
Omaha Kings
Portland Trailblazers
Sacramento Capitals
Seattle Supersonics
Utah Pioneers
Vancouver Grizzlies

South West
Austin Weird
Dallas Mavericks
Houston Rockets
Los Angeles Clippers
Los Angeles Lakers
Mexico City Aztecas
Oklahoma City Thunder
Phoenix Suns
San Antonio Spurs
San Diego Admirals

Playoff schedule - all best of five (first 2 seeds from each division receive a bye for the first round)

first round
NE3 - NE6 (1)   SE3 - SE6 (3)   NW3 - NW6 (5)   SW3 - SW6 (7)
NE4 - NE5 (2)   SE4 - SE5 (4)   NW4 - NW5 (6)   SW4 - SW5 (8 )

second round
NE1 - 2 (9)   SE1 - 4 (11)   NW1 - 6 (13)   SW1 - 8 (15)
NE2 - 1 (10)   SE2 - 3 (12)   NW2 - 5 (14)   SW2 - 7 (16)

quarter finals
9 - 12 (17)   11 - 10 (18)   13 - 16 (19)   15 - 14 (20)

NBA Finals
21 - 22 (23)

I'm not entirely opposed to the idea of expansion.

But I am opposed to this. It's a terrible reason for it. I also don't think expansion is the answer before other issues within the NBA is addressed. It would feel wrong to bring in two new teams with issues like contracting and tampering still rampant.
'23 Historical Draft: Orlando Magic.

PG: Terry Porter (90-91) / Steve Francis (00-01)
SG: Joe Dumars (92-93) / Jeff Hornacek (91-92) / Jerry Stackhouse (00-01)
SF: Brandon Roy (08-09) / Walter Davis (78-79)
PF: Terry Cummings (84-85) / Paul Millsap (15-16)
C: Chris Webber (00-01) / Ralph Sampson (83-84) / Andrew Bogut (09-10)

Kentucky is definitely on the radar.  They are on every list.   Kansas City rather than St. Louis is a possibility.  I've seen Virginia mentioned a bunch as well but that seems unlikely

As they should be. The Colonels were a great team.
