His defense is unacceptable. He won’t be coming to Boston.
I think you nailed itis .
Sorry, but have you seem this team? He's the best Danny can do and badly needed. I never thought when Kelly O left I 'd be saying we could use someone to fill his role, but they've added literally no talent over the past few years to the team.
So when we got eliminated by the Heat last season, that’s the thought you had?? The problem is we don’t have Kelly O anymore?
Kinda yeah.
Not so much the reason for being eliminated but certainly showing / reminding us what we are lacking in our big man rotation and that is skilled size.
Sullinger left. Olynyk left. Horford left.
They were our skilled size. They were big man that could pass the ball. That were decision makers on the ball. Who could be trusted with the ball. Who helped create ball movement and spacing. Guys who were threats to score the ball. Obviously at different levels of success - but they all provided an offensive threat.
Our bigs now are low skilled players. Paint cloggers in Tristan Thompson and Rob Williams (with promising passing ability). Theis is not a paint clogger but he is a low value threat away from the basket. He shoots the ball so infrequently from the perimeter that teams can help off of him comfortably. He is more of a rim runner rolling to the hoop than a perimeter threat and he is a good passer on those rim runs but not much passing otherwise.
We need more skill from our big man corps. We need somebody who is a threat to make jump-shots from the perimeter. Somebody who can facilitate the offense with their passing from the high post. We need that.
Watching Olynyk in that series was yet another reminder of what we are missing in our big man rotation. How basic and low skilled our big men have become.
