I've always liked ilyasova. I was under the impression he still had something left. I'm surprised nobody has signed him.  The Celts could use a big with decent size who can shoot.

Ilyasova is a guy I've always liked as well. I bet he's still better than Ojeleye or Grant Williams.
And we could use a 3rd string center like Kyle O'Quinn more than 'shooter' Carsen Edwards.

Zero chance Cousins stays healthy for a full season. Zip..nada...zilch.

In two months we will be saying how we dodged a bullet not only health wise but why let poison into your locker room filled with young budding stars? Luckily Danny chose the safer route there.

Dodged a bullet?  We’re talking about a vet minimum contract on the team with the sixth lowest payroll in the NBA.

This questions is waaaaaaaay too early to ask. Cousins could get injured in the second game for the rest of the season. This question can't be properly answered until at least a month into the season.

To his credit, Danny targeted perhaps the best vet minimum wing player:  Kent Bazemore.  He just decided to go to familiar surroundings.

Shaq Harrison would have been a nice fit at the minimum.

I really thought Boogie was worth the investment.  Hassan Whiteside isn’t my favorite player, but for the minimum he would have been a steal.

Among remaining guys who can play a role:  Gerald Green, Kyle Korver, Ersan Ilyasova

Did Houston cut Gerald Green?

Yep.  They couldn’t end up keeping him under their hard cap.

Rondo, Dwight Howard , Cousins all could be had for less than what they bring to the table ..
I also have the feeling that Brad is allergic to those types of players (I would include Butler ) because Danny could have brought any one of them (and he knows their value) but chose not to.
Danny wanted Davis because he is easier to coach and doesn’t have a dominant personality which works with Brad.

I think this problem Stevens has with bigs will cost the Celtics a serious run at a championship. It's what is missing in their game.

Howard looks very good in Philly splitting time with Embiid. Cousins has looked good so far, but he's not a full time player at this point. Either of these guys would plug up the middle, which you could drive a tank through with the current Celtics.

I'm waiting to see how Thompson fits, and if he starts. He could make a difference.

The way Danny signs all these bigs, and Stevens hardly plays them suggests a conflict to me. Though the quality hasn't been all that great.

yes. Cousins is a crapshoot. Thompson is much better. Good sign if Stevens will play him.

It might be the other way around... it could be that Danny brings in 5 unplayable players each season so Brad is forced to play the 10 playable players that Danny prefers.

I was fine this off-season, last off-season I would have much rather had Brogdon than Walker.  I thought he fit the Tatum/Brown timeline a lot better and was a better fit with those 2, which is what I would have been focusing on if I was the GM.  The goal is to win a title and to do that you need to maximize Tatum/Brown and I've never thought Walker did that.
2025 Historical Draft - Cleveland Cavaliers - 1st pick

Starters - Luka, JB, Lebron, Wemby, Shaq
Rotation - D. Daniels, Mitchell, G. Wallace, Melo, Noah
Deep Bench - Korver, Turner

I like Brogdon a lot too.  But was there any chance he was signing here?  I mean legit chance?  Sometimes we gotta bring in the talent that is going to sign here.

Who knows.  He went to Indiana.  Had Boston expressed interest and gave him the same contract, he might have ended up here.

Ultimately though, I wouldn't have signed Walker.  I didn't think he put Boston over the top and at some point you can't just keep paying people max contracts that don't really move the needle.  Had Hayward not opted out, Boston would have been in a pretty bad financial situation and not just this year, but going forward.  Sometimes you are better off not signing anyone than using the money poorly, and I do think Boston used the money poorly on Kemba.  Kemba was absolutely worth the contract he got, I just wouldn't have brought him to this team in that scenario.

No one else thinks Josh Jackson would have a good “buy low” guy? 6’8” wing with improving 3 point shot, getting credited for his defense, great athlete. If he keeps playing like this he’s gonna get a contract like Wood next season. Pistons seem to really like him. Maybe too soon to draw conclusions.

Danny signs all these bigs ??

I'd say Ainge is as opposed to big post players as Stevens. They both somehow think we can be Golden State East.

Gotta agree with BobShot - Until we get some talented size to anchor the defense, we are not winning a title.

What is the knock on Christian Wood - I realize the video was highlights, but he looks pretty good to me.
Probably too tall for Danny and Brad and their ManLove for perimeter players.

Agree on Christian Wood, thought he would have been a good fit at  PF.  Giles is the other free agent I thought would be an upgrade.  Definitely seems like there are free agents still available that would help more than Edwards, Waters, Fall, Green, and Semi.

Guys available that I would like to see the Celts bring in:

Skal Labissiere, if given a chance he could be the next Wood.  He’s 6’10”.can shoot, create his own shot, athletic, high character.  Not sure why he is not sticking on a team.

Hezonia could be poor mans Hayward, capable of playing point forward.

Vonleh good rebounder, decent protecting the rim and has added a 3pt shot.

All of these guys would be an improvement.

I like Jackson's game.  The headcase factor has lowered his value and I'm sure it's been a huge factor in what teams would want him.  His attitude will determine if he's going to be a Christian Wood type because the game is there.
