Not a great showing from the C’s but I think there were some positives. Here are my takeaways from 2 games:

1. Kemba’s a lot more valuable than we think
2. Tatum’s a superstar
3. Brown isn’t an allstar yet. He doesn’t seem to have the skillset yet to put a team on his back. Still really valuable for us but we do need Kemba to unlock JB. At least until his game develops further
4. Big men still impact the game; therefore, I’m excited for TT
5. Teague still has gas in the tank; solid signing by DA
6. Smart isnt a legit point guard; again, can’t wait for Kemba to come back
7. We still need a shooter. Nesmith may eventually become that guy for us but it doesn’t look likely this year

What about you guys? Key learnings and takeaways?

1. Team is not ready to compete for a championship.

2. Team does not have an identy, there is no real idea of what they want to do.

3. Team needs a veteran coach with a stronger personality.

4. Basketball is still a big man's game.

5. Team needs the injured players back quickly to determine what they have.

6. Jayson Tatum really needs to bulk up.

1. Yeah people have been underrating Kemba with their adoration of Tatum
2. He's certainly close to being one
3. An All-Star doesn't need to be good at carrying poor teams, he can have a skillset that is geared towards bringing value to good teams

My own takeaway is that we really need to be active in moving off the ball to make up for the loss of Hayward and Kemba's injury. We can't be playing heliocentric basketball around a subpar offensive centrepiece if we have title aspirations, we need to squeeze the most out of the talent we have by putting them into the best positions to attack when they catch the ball and that can be achieved by off-ball movement.

Need 2 more pre season games to fine tune

- Celts as of now are behind 76ers, Heat and Nets. Maybe Bucks, but they have looked bad in the pre season also
- Brad has to stop starting Green
- NBA 3 pt line has been difficult to digest for many of the younger players

Best chance was last season.  Danny may have screwed up by hoarding all the picks instead of adding help

What do you mean maybe Bucks? Cs are fifth in talent in the east for sure.

Agree with most of your takeways (1,2,5,6), therefore they arn't based on this 2 preseason games, which bring absolutely no long term answer... We may like the energy of our two rookies, admit that Edwards-Ojeleye are not really NBA players and that the begining of the season may be a little difficult (I mean being ahead of Nets-76ers-Heat) before Kemba comes back... But we may already suspect that before for me we are a lock in top 4 in the east (Heat and 76ers on the paper are not at all strongest than last year begining of the season paper) and then we have to pass the last step in EC. Time will tell.

It is so funny guys falling years and years to the same emotional posts based on nothing and generalised to perfect truth... I mean we have 0 chances because we were blown out by Nets ? So what about Bucks who fall largely against NO ? They will miss the PO ? And the Sunsvery close to beat LA at Staple Center, they become instent favorite ?
Our best chance was last year ??? It was our best chance in our lats 3 finals appearence. But we probably have better chance when our stars and roster is mature no? Ok you can phantasm on what Mavs team will be, Hawks, OKC picks...

You guys that say others complain year after year act like the Cs have won the championship the last 4 years or something. Newsflash, the Cs have not won the NBA Championship in 12 years. Therefore, it is you folks that say everything is okay that should think more critically. The folks that realize this is not working have been proved right the last several years. You know that the definition of insanity is doing the same ting over and over again expecting different results.

1. The team clearly looks disjointed
2. I'm hoping it's fixed with a lineup of Teague, Smart, Brown, Tatum, Theis/Thompson. (Reserves: Theis/Thompson, Timelord, Grant, Pritchard with brief spot duty for Nesmith and Ojeleye)
3. I'm hoping the Javonte experiment is over ... not really sure what that was about.
4. If the lineup I posted in #2 is what they go with, they are only integrating one new (and veteran) player.  Hopefully they won't look out of sync for long.  Other than Kemba, this is, for the most part, the same team that got to the ECF last year.  And, I don't remember them looking like a lottery team when he was out.  So, I'm hoping this horrendous ball doesn't last.
5. So far the draft picks look promising.  It will take them some time to reach their potential but it looks like a good draft "so far".

LOL Ogaju...

_ First there is 29 other teams in the league, fans that all want the same, fans who want the same : to win in the quickest way possible. There is also places like Los Angeles or Miami who have an advantage to find an easyest way to cash in FA and change roster in few years. As I posted we tryed the trade for big stars/FA way (Kirie, Gordon, AD), all of them leaved in bad ways or rejected us badly -ad we lost Gilgeous Alexander in the Kirie trade....
_ Second, no it is no insanity, because our team change each years, the plan is not the same than last year (many of you folks were very very negativ last year after Kririe leaving) and the expectations are also (I mean the only year where we really had to do evthg to win now was 4 years ago and it was during half of the first match before Haward injurie ruined it). I mean I will be more critic if we fall in first round of PO
_ Third, the redundant narration is on your side not in ours : I don't say we will win the title this year; we choose the youth moovement just one year ago and you need some patience for that. Maybe JB as some say won't progress much more (but he is still borderline all star and it is not becasue he put only 16 points in a preseason game it changes that stuff...). You folks are angry when Kririe team fall, then you are mad and negativ when he leaves, then after Raptors come back to a 7 game in ECSF you see we will loose and then when our surpisingly good team go in final you still see a lot of limitation... That with a superstar of 22 who is on line of PO records of the best all time young on the league etc... Last year Philly sucked in big largness, we blew them in PO and now they are far away behind us because they brought Stephen Curry and 2010 version of Danny Green... Did they ?
_ Forth I don't say Ainge is perfect and maybe some of the last choices (last year draft, maybe Pritchrd this year, no move at trade dealine last year) were not that good... But I am a little less self confident in my short term views than you guys... As many time I didn't liked what Ainge did and finally it brought gold (alos because of luck and context I get it). Smae for Stevens who was a little outcoached by Spoelstra and Nurse. But still is a top 5 coach in the league
_ Fifth, even if our both regards on others are true, that I am insane with to much positivity and you insane with negativity I still prefere my blindness and it makes me more of a supporter.   ;)

From what I can see they are going to need a bunch of games to fill into roles and BS is the reason why. Yes the talent has dropped but they still look like a team with no structure. Things should be easier for things to work with less guys needing shots.

Nesmith is probably the third most talented guy on the team. He is athletic, aggressive on defense, active for rebounds, not afraid to get dunked on, gets up and down the court quickly, and is an okay shooter currently. He isn't a highlight or star player but should be in the rotation as much as possible to push his development. There is a ton of potential in him BS need to get it out ASAP.

TL can't believe I am say it, looks like a rotation player.

The Js will be fine they still both need to take the steps to be better at playmaking and game impact. They also still need better consistency.

Pritchard is a legit backup PG.

I'd make this a sell season with everyone but the Js, and Nesmith available for trade. This team isn't ready to win and it will take another year for the Js to develop.

Team will regress this year and the Nets will be really good if they can keep it together.

I see the Celtics in the 5-6 range in the East, likely a first or second round exit.

Honestly I don’t mind since this will be another unusual covid season similar to the NFL so if we need a year to take a step back and figure it out then this is the perfect year to do so.

I've learned Celtics Strong members overreact to a very short offseason.

Smart is still a chucker.
