I don't wish this on Gordon, but I am happy not to be the fan that gets this news.

I'm reading it could require surgery and may take up to 8 weeks to recover?

Charlotte fans must be thrilled.

Avulsion fractures are generally a pretty small deal.

Really?  My wife had a pretty severe one, on her foot, and it healed up fine in maybe 5 weeks.

There is a Utah Jazz fan out there somewhere that has put a curse on Hayward, and it's still in effect. I'm a fan of Gordon and wish him nothing but the best. With all the injuries he has had to deal with, I just hope he hasn't lost his love for the game.

I don't claim to be an expert. It's just what I read in a quick google for the recovery time. I'm more asking than telling.

The Hornets say forward Gordon Hayward sustained an avulsion fracture of his fifth metacarpal on his right hand during the team’s preseason game against the Raptors on Dec. 14. Hayward will miss Thursday’s preseason game at Orlando and will be listed as day-to-day moving forward.

I think so

And GH agent is a genius. Get one more large contract for the road

If he picked up the player option... his value likely drops quite a bit after this new injury scare

Such a shame that his career's been marked by injury since he signed with us.
Any odd typos are because I suck at typing on an iPhone :D

From what I understand, an avulsion fracture means the ligament is still attached to the bone, but the bone is broken away. Perhaps it's not completely broken off? Obviously I'm not a doctor, but it seems like this would require more than "day-to-day" to heal.

I think when you are always working your way back from injury more injuries are likely to happen. I hope Hayward can get and stay healthy but it’s hard when you constantly have set backs.
