I’m a fan of this rule. Nationally televised games usually feature the big matchups and so I’m glad the NBA has taken some steps to try and live up to the hype. I guess load management can still be a thing but at the end of the day, the NBA is a product. We’re watching athletes get paid millions to play a game and this is because we (as fans) are willing to pay them to play it.

Not advocating for anyone to play injured (ex. Kemba should rest that knee) but I don’t like teams or players “ducking” each other. Your thoughts?

Players should also be able to take "sick days" and rest whenever they need to, and I'm also not a big fan of the NBA with all the rigging-ness going on these days. So, the more money and viewership they lose the better I suppose.

But I am a Boston Celtics fan.

You can't play every game. You need some rotation and rest players once in a while.
Especially with such a tight schedule.

I wouldn't care about the fines at all. A coach needs to do what he believes is best for the team.

All this will do is lead to teams reporting minor/non-specific injuries that cause guys like Kawhi to miss the occasional game. It won't do anything to actually stop load management.
I'm bitter.

Carrying a team offensively and still playing decent defense is a lot of work for one player.  As fans, we may not like load management but it seems to be a necessity, just like starting pitchers in baseball play only every 4-5 days.

Just means teams have to be smarter with load management and show more respect for the national tv games.

This seems unenforceable to me.  As others have said, players are nursing injuries and wear and tear as a matter of course.  How can the league expect to police this, decide what is a legitimate injury related rest vs. general not allowed rest?  Are they going to ask for notes from a doctor or some other silly thing?  Define star player?  Does that mean if we rest say Tristan Thompson that is OK but if we rest Kemba, we get fined?  Or are you not allowed to rest anyone?

And what is going to happen when a player who might of rested gets injured in the nationally televised game?  Or really does wear down and can't play in the playoffs?  Is that better for the league?

I don't see this working well or really at all.

Probably will be a lot of "sore knee" designations before games this year.
