Kemba Walker will miss the start of the season (as will Romeo Langford). We don't know for how long but until then it's clear that Jayson Tatum and Jaylen Brown will be the primary scoring options. However when one of them sits we do need some guys to step up.

Last year the hierarchy was: Tatum > Walker > Brown > Hayward

We 'lost' a good offensive option in Enes Kanter as well. In terms of field goal attempts per minute last season it were Carsen Edwards and Marcus Smart who ranked 5th and 6th, but they shot an abysmal 33FG% and 38FG%.

So who will be our best 3rd scoring option?

Unfortunately Smart. But Smart can go on runs where he is respectable. With Kemba out I'd like the line up of
Smart, Nesmith, Brown, Tatum, Theis
But doubt BS has the guts to go for that lineup.

Maybe Smart, Brown, Tatum, Theis and Thompson if Thompson demands a starting role?

Best guess Teague, Smart, Brown, Tatum, Thompson as BS has little backbone.

Have to agree, but I voted for Teague just because that's what I hope for.

Votes/sentiment about a rookie being 3rd option seem like fantasy.

I choose JTeague for the early part of the season. I think it would eventually be a collective effort of Smart, JTeague, Theis, TT, PP and Nesmith.

It will be Nesmith.

Tatum
Brown
Nesmith

I worry a little about his defense out of the gates

If not a solid from college, it wont be a easy transition

Stackhouse said he was improving before his injury

probably Smart.  he'll definitely be in the top 3 for shots taken every night until Kemba comes back

The most likely is Smart by far. He's bound to take too many shots in these circumstances. Teague is second most likely.

The one that would help the team the most is if Nesmith or Pritchard broke out.

I hope not

Smart needs to accept that he should limit his shooting to 10 shots max a game. Unless he is on fire

Celts must become a more efficient shooting team if team wants to go far next season

It's Smart. It won't be efficient, but he will be the guy taking the next most amount of shots and scoring the next most amount of points.

My guess is Smart.

My hope there is no hierarchy, and the 3rd highest scorer is different on many nights depending on matchups, who is hot etc.  I think that would be ideal to get a taste of different players stepping up on different nights.

It will likely be Smart because of time on court and trust in the players.

By the end of the season, with some luck, one of the young guys will have progressed enough (G. Williams, Langford or Nesmith) to give Smart a run for his money.

They brought in Teague to back up Kemba.  I think he will start while Kemba is out and as a result will get enough minutes to average 10-12pts/game.  Not a significant number of points but he won't need to score because the Js will step up. I want to see Smart as the 6th man this year with a focus on D not on O.
