Just saw this:

I wish him well. Not exactly an Abby Chin-level loss, but "Drapes" will be missed.

Do we get a draft pick for him?

Honestly... he was my least favorite. He was the only one who never seemed like a “Celtic” if that makes any sense. Also I never cared for many of his takes. Draper and Sherrod are 2 that I wouldn’t care if they left.

I liked Drapes.  Sorry to see him go, had good chemistry with Forsberg on podcast.  But it is true he was the anti-homer; wasn't shy to show his love for Philly.

Wonder who they will have to cover for Mike Gorman on occasion. Mike has missed calling some games for NBC Sports Boston especially during back to backs in different cities. Scal is the color analyst, I don't know how good he would be doing play by play.
Any odd typos are because I suck at typing on an iPhone :D

I know every sport has a play by play guy for TV and radio, but does TV really need one for every game? I would love to hear a Scal and Perkins broadcast, if Mike needs some time off.

They should have hired Evan Turner as a part-time coach and part-time analyst. Would have been way more fun.

I was pretty hot and cold with Drapes.  I thought the "my guy" shtick was annoying, but generally he wasn't too bad.  Way better than Tanguay IMO.

The true losses of this off season for the broadcast are obviously Tommy and Abby.

Wasn't that the experiment that TNT was doing with Players Only? I think the results were pretty mixed on that.

No more Scal and Drapes in meaningless away games? I'm actually fine with that. It seemed like they would just never stop talking. :P

As I recall, the results ran the gamut from "horrible" to "unspeakable."  Those broadcasts were (IMO) like trying to watch a game at a bar while two uninteresting people sat by the TV and laughed and shouted incessantly about uninteresting stuff they did together years ago.  And one of them was always Greg Anthony.

I like Scal and Perk, but I think they are better on a podcast or TV show separate from the live game, except perhaps in small doses with someone like Mike to bring focus back to the game now and then.

I'm not sure how the broadcasting will be this upcoming season, whether they'll be at the game or calling the game remotely from a different location. If I recall, I thought the Players Only broadcast was a remote thing from a studio. For me, the biggest difference between Scal and Perkins calling the game and the Players Only setup, is the intimate knowledge those two guys have with the Celtics and the fact that they call the games as a "homer". Those qualities were missing from Players Only, as the broadcast were very generic as they didn't want to rub anyone the wrong way.

Yep, I'd love us to have a former coach next to Mike (just like Tommy). A guy who can actually read the game on the fly and make in-depth comments.

I never really cared for Draper’s commentary. Very eagerly looking for a catchphrase.

Hopefully we can find a bettter Mike-substitute.
