Nice. Help Nesmith and Langford

Hopefully not with their 3 point shooting.

Don't like it. Too young. Too much bball left in him.

Heck, I wonder if Evan Turner wouldn't be the best wing player among the Celtics backups right now.

He's been pretty bad for the Blazers for a couple years.

So are our bench wings.

Rookie Nesmith
Injury prone Romeo
undersized SG Carsen Edwards
defensive combo forward Semi
Undersized PF Grant Williams

Do we really believe Evan Turner cannot put a uniform on right now and compete with those guys for minutes?

I highly doubt he can reliably hit a spot-up three pointer, which is most of what we need from Nesmith.

Even Grant Williams has shown more potential to be a spot up threat from three, and he's pretty solid defensively at the 3 or 4.

It's funny to me that ET has become more associated with the Celtics than with Philly.

The first thing I think of when I remember him is how he was the #2 pick for Philly back when they were in the Jrue Holiday / Iguodala phase and he hit some BS gamewinning floaters against the Celts.

Was there an assistant coach that was recently let go?

Kara Lawson.

For those of you critical of this thinking he won't be great for player development, I think even though his position is as an Assistant for Player Development, I think this is to get some veteran on court clout for Brad.  One of the few knocks against Brad has been his ability to connect with players on the level that some other coaches can.  Brad is great with X's and O's, but this gives the bench someone who has played in the league and can communicate Brad's coaching philosophy from a player perspective.

Remember that one well.

  • Sometimes there's no sane reason for optimism
Really happy to have him back in town. He should be a decent assistant coach and he's an incredible likeable guy; the latter that should help mitigate the underrated loss of Kanter's personality.

I see a few comments about how his style of play may not allow him to be good at coaching. I really don't understand that. How many coaches/assistant coaches were once fabulous players? Some guys just take to coaching better than playing. In Turner's case -  if he really puts in the effort - he has the opportunity to be good at both.

Why not? Sure he shot 15%, but it was a big 15%
I'm bitter.

Love ET. Surprised to see him transition to coaching so soon, but with the loss of Lawson (who was apparently a good players coach), it makes sense. ET is a fun dude

This is awesome.  Low risk, feel good move.  ET seems to have really liked being in Boston with Brad and this should help Brad w/ connecting with the players.

Ding ding ding we have a WINNER !!!! Brad needs help. I am not sure this is the type of help but nice to see them admit that he needs help!!!

Apparently, he couldn't even get his Homie Hayward to stay.
