Gotta think that if Ainge's top four players loved playing with Myles Turner last summer with Team USA and think adding him would make this team great, Ainge would have been less demanding of more talent being added to that proposed S&T. My guess is in scouting Turner and coming to a conclusion about him as a player, that Walker's, Brown's, Tatum's and Smart's opinion of him would be an important part of determining Turner's value. It would not surprise me if Ainge called Popovich and asked him about Turner.
Ainge wasn't high on Turner. Perhaps why is due to how his own players felt about the guy. If Ainge really liked Turner, I think Ainge's push to add more than McDermott wouldn't have been so strong and Turner would now be a Celtic if.....gigantic if here.....Hayward's agent wouldn't have shopped Indy's offer around and find another club, like say Charlotte, to up their bid in major way. That did happen and then Hayward went for the money.
