With more of the extent of Kemba's knee injury known, I'm moving Boston down to the 6 seed line.  I just think they are going to struggle a lot early in the season and I'm very concerned that Smart's inevitable injury is going to happen before Kemba is back.  So I think that Boston is around .500 the first month or two of the season, which is too big a hole to climb all they way out of.
2023 Historical Draft - Brooklyn Nets - 9th pick

Bigs - Pau, Amar'e, Issel, McGinnis, Roundfield
Wings - Dantley, Bowen, J. Jackson
Guards - Cheeks, Petrovic, Buse, Rip

I think Kemba is good but he's got a negative on/off court rating for us

I don't think we're going to be lower than 4.  Jayson and Jaylen are both way better than I think people realize

Don't really care about the West.

Alot can change, but East for now:

1 Nets
2 Heat
3 Bucks
4 Sixers
5 Raptors
6 Wizards
7 Hawks
8 Pacers
*********
9 Celtics

I've seen all these teams play in preseason so far and believe all have deeper rosters than C's.  Can't forsee how rookies turn out, injuries, and trades that will be made.  We've (DA) got work to do, to try to cement a playoff spot, but our lack of size and veterans to stabilize this team is worrisome.

You must be jokin

Why bc you saw a Celts lose by 19 in a pre season game without 4 key players

There is no team in the planet that can win like that. See Lebron 2 years ago. Lakers didnt even make the playoffs

What a fun topic:

This is how i feel right now.

East:

1.Nets (they were already a great them without Durant and Kyrie, now they look scary + they added Jeff Green  ;D)
2.Philly ( watching Philly last night against us i really think this will be their best season in a long time, Embiid/Howard best C position in the league)
3. Celtics (i like the addition of TT and JT)
4.Milwaukee
5.Miami
6.Washington
7.Toronto
8.Atlanta

West:

1.Lakers
2.Clippers
3.Dallas
4.Golden State Warriors
5.Denver
6.Houston
7.Utah
8.Phoenix/Blazers

Triboy, I try my best not to reach conclusions rashly.  I've studied the rosters of all these teams, moves and signings they've made and short and long term injuries.  Based on these factors, IMO, I believe that AS CURRENTLY CONSTRUCTED the C's will fall short of the playoffs....barely.  Right now they have three really good players, and very little else, especially in the way of solid veteran players.
You mentioned how we without 4 KEY players last nite.  While I'll give you 3, I would hardly consider RLangford a key player!  Someday, maybe, but right now that's a whole lotta "green" opinion.  He only played 369 minutes last year and didn't prove he can even stay on the court.  DTheis IS solid.  TT, when he finally gets healthy and in game shape is as well, but that could be awhile.  Kemba will be down for a good portion of the season, and probably sits every other game once he's "back".
As I mentioned we are hideously undersized, especially bigs and backcourt.  Our veteran presence pales to the other teams I put in front of them, although the Raps are a little thin, too.
As I mentioned in another post a couple weeks ago, I'm really high on PP.  Kid has some of the best handles in the league already.  Had watched so much tape of him, and couldn't believe we got him that late.  Said in that post that he would be our PG of the future, and I'm stickin with it.  Can get anywhere on the court, anytime he wants.  Last nite was no surprise, to me.  Expect more!
Anyway, if you can tell me why these other teams won't squeeze us out (other than cause I'm a C's fan, wear green tinted glasses, and want to believe it), lets hear it.  If you have already in another post, apologies.  Just didn't want to read thru 10 more pages of posts.
Go C's....and hope I'm proven wrong!

It feels like we always have at least one "the sky is falling!!!!!" prediction before each season, and they're always wrong. No we aren't missing the playoffs. That's asinine. As long as we have Tatum, Brown, and Brad Stevens, we aren't missing the playoffs. Our defense is still gonna be great, like it always is. That alone will get us to the playoffs.

When did we ever miss playoffs, only that one season when we traded KG and PP, we were tanking for one season and that was it. No way we are at least 5th seed, i can't imagine we are worse than that with this roster.

You may want to re-do your prediction of Nets finishing 7th in the East. What are earth were you thinking??

1. Brooklyn (team is loaded)
2. Milwaukee (always excel in regular season)
3. Miami (momentum from last season)
4. Raptors (Nurse coaches them up; they play hard)
5. Celtics (Loss of Hayward and injuried Kemba knee will be felt)
6. Sixers (Embiid and Simmons still don't mix)
7. Pacers (repeat of last year; not well constructed)
8. Hawks (good off season should produce playoff spot)

1. Lakers (best got better)
2. Clippers (addition by subtraction)
3. Nuggets (loss of Grant offset by emergence of Porter)
4. Jazz (run it back with healthy Bog)
5. Rockets (assuming Harden and Westy stay)
6. Blazers (good offseason should improve their lot a little)
7. Mavs (Zingis knee holds them down)
8. Suns (Chris Paul moves them into playoff spot)

I'm pretty down on the Celtics.  I think the loss of Hayward, and the injury to Kemba, is going to really hurt us.  I think Tatum and Brown will both have great seasons, but not enough to get us above the equivalent of 50 wins in a full season.

I think the Nets are going to be really good; not just KD and Kyrie, but all the other guys are solid.

Of course I said that about the Sixers last pre-season predictions, so take it with a grain of salt(lover).

This was my pre-pre-season prediction.  I think I may have underestimated Philly but otherwise feel I did well.

Mil, Bos, Tor, Mia, Brk, Phi, Ind, Atl

-Could see Bos through Phi in basically any order. Was will be in it with Atl/Ind for a 7/8 seed especially if Warren misses tie for Ind.

Lal, Lac, Den, Uta, Dal, Pho, Por, GSW

-Assuming Harden is moved sooner than later.

eh, they are going to have a lot of missed games.  Irving has missed 25% of the games he has played, why would this year be any different?  Durant is going to get plenty of days off. LeVert has been hurt every year. They only had 1 guy play in 70 games and only 1 other play at least 65 games, last year.  They just aren't a team that is going to stay healthy, which is why I had them at 7 and a few preseason games isn't going to make them magically healthy.  As I've said elsewhere I thought they would be a much better playoff team (if they entered healthy) than they were in the regular season, I just think the grind of the regular season and their propensity to miss games is going to hurt their record a fair amount.

7th.
Sure somewhere around 40-32.  I think the East is going to have a bunch of teams in the low to mid 40's in wins this year.  Milwaukee is the only one I see up in the 50's and there are going to be 3 teams that are just downright terrible and another 3 that aren't very good.  Now because I think there are going to be a bunch of closely grouped teams, there could be fairly significant seeding changes from my projections just because of how close I think they are going to be.  Time will tell, but I'm usually pretty good with these things and have often been ahead of where other people are.

I think the West is going to be pretty similar in that regard as well.  A bunch of closely grouped teams and then a bunch of downright terrible teams.
