Now we have Tatum, Brown, Smart and Kemba locked up long term. This team is in great shape for the foreseeable future.

I hope and pray what we saw from him after New Year's and in the Playoff bubble is who he is full time. Maybe not 30 PPG, but like 25/7/4 on decent efficiency.

I'm comfortable with giving Tatum a max contract. A no-brainer actually.

Jayson Tatum's 5-year max extension will pay him $163 million with an incentive structure that could see the deal escalate to up to $195.6 million for making first team All-NBA. Will start at $28.1m to 33.7m next season, going all the way to $37.1m to $44.5m in '25-'26.

Well he was 25/10/5 in a long 17 game playoff run this year.  I think 25/7/4 is doable during the regular season against worse competition.

Thanks. However I thought if a player made all team (1st to 3rd), they were elgible for super max?

thanks roy.

not bad. the initial hit isnt terrible and the final year should be all right as the salary cap rises....in theory.

Democracy begins with freedom from hunger, freedom from unemployment, freedom from fear, and freedom from hatred.

Sounds like he'll get 25-30% based on how he does this year. That could actually be pretty big, if he doesn't make all NBA 1st team we would save a bit on the cap in the future.

Given that he made the 3rd team this year (and should have made 2nd!), I was expecting him to set a hard line at the 30% max

Felt like an inevitability, but great news nonetheless

It was always going to happen, but that didn't stop people from saying that Tatum must hate Boston  ::)
I'm bitter.
