Danny needs to hurry up making these moves, doesn’t the season start in a few weeks!

So we get a TPE, and I’m guessing by adding Kanter we get more than the original two first round picks that were reported in draft night, right? Maybe something like a protected first rounder given the inclusion of Kanter and pick 30 (to Memphis)?

Also, this clearly means we have some bigs were going to sign and/or trade for.

So can we take that future Memphis consideration and make it...

5 mill tpe created.

I don't think that's true. You have to trade a player into cap space to generate a trade exception.

RT @KeithSmithNBA: The Celtics will create a $4.767M trade exception by dealing Kanter to the Trail Blazers. Kanter will go into the Blazer's trade exception that they had from when they traded Kent Bazemore.

(...) Celtics get a future Memphis draft consideration.
The Grizzlies gave us 2 future picks on draft night. If I get this straight, we just sacrificed one of them in order to dump Kanter.

#30 + Kanter for a future second rounder + a $5,105,350 TPE

This is a terrible trade for the Celtics.

Danny doesn't define the timeline.  Kanter had to pick up his option yesterday before he could be included in the trade.

Is VP still going out?
I ask because team now only has Theis and TL as Centers and both are 6'8 -240lbs

Timelord cant be 6'8.  He is taller than Bam by a smidge.

Blazers miss Kanter I guess.

Good locker room guy. Poor fit under Brad

So we traded the 30th pick and a serviceable big on a decent contract for a “future Memphis draft consideration?”

Yuck.

There might be something up the pipe line. DA needs to open spots to take back more than one player in a Hayward of Kemba trade. And say we get lucky and we get Turner and McBuckets from Indy, we need the roster spot for both and our big situation gets better. You add that with the Christian Wood rumor now, our bigs could be looking nice.

Also no w we have close to 5 mill to use on a trade for a vet who wants out. Up front looks bad, but behind closed doors could be decent.

Kanter was fun to have on the team but he's so situational.  Makes sense to move on from him and let Rob Williams have more of a shot at regular minutes.
