As a diehard fan my happiness level with this draft is medium.
I hope our two first rounders can contribute but They don’t seem like sure things.
We haven’t addressed the issue of size . I sure hope that’s in Danny’s plan.
And for God’s sake how many years in a row do we keep drafting guards?
I ‘ve vented and feel better. Sorry.

I’m happy.  I’d have been happier with Maledon and Tillman/Carey, but I really like Nesmith, and Pritchard looks really solid.

Yes!  Best we could do at our spots imo.  I preferred Saddiq Bey, but....I was probably wrong.  Time will tell...maybe they'll both be great in slightly different ways.

I like Nesmith's bio (intangibles), length, and of course shooting.  He can grow in the areas he needs to.  Pritchard was not on my radar, the Quickley pick kind of crushed me (even though we may have had no interest).  But there is a LOT to like about Pritchard.

Very happy with the draft.  Hoping we trade for a big that's better than one we could have got in the draft....

Or, for Patrick Williams...who'll just need a little more time...

Maledon and Tillman would have made for a happy draft night as well.....

do we know yet if trade of pick 30 jettisoned Poirier?  And, if that trade was not an option, I wonder if Danny would have stashed Poku at 26 and selected Pritchard at 30.

Well, the rumor of a Pritchard promise between 26 and 30 might negate that scenario, unless Danny was a huge Poku fan.

I would have been happier with either a trade up for 1 higher rated player or at least best available big with the second 1st rounder but I'm willing to wait out trades/free agency to see the whole plan.

Many times I disagree with you Roy, but something funny happened when I read this. Your confidence (a trait that I often find frustrating in discussions with you on this blog) inspired me to have confidence as well. I'm in on Nesmith.

I'm in on Pritchard as well, even though I would have enjoyed dreaming about a player with a little more upside. Maybe Pritchard's work ethic gives him that kind of upside though.

I'm really happy with the draft picks but concerned about possibly losing Hayward for nothing and not having a legit starting center yet.

Basically, we addressed some of our big needs, shooting and bench help. but still have a serious need at center and may lose Hayward without being able to use that salary for someone else.

I have no reason to be unhappy yet.

I don't know enough about the draft picks to be happy or unhappy.

I am unhappy waiting and worrying about the Hayward situations.

So I will go with unhappy at the moment hoping later today makes me happy (or at least neutral)

No, the deal was just #30 for two future seconds

Poku went to OKC at #17, so trade or no trade that wasn't an option
I'm bitter.

The draft was never gonna be the make or break for this off-season.

What happens with Hayward?  If he goes (seems likely) do they find a way to use his departure to get more assets?

Who do they sign with whatever cap exceptions they have?

This is a very good team that without Hayward playing at all swept the Sixers and beat a very good Raptors team in 7.   Their main weakness in the playoffs was fourth quarter execution more than it was a roster issue.

I'll be very happy and enthusiastic about next season as long as Danny makes some moves to shore up the bench.

They needed to upgrade backup point from Wanamaker, who just doesn't have enough scoring juice.  They needed to upgrade back wing minutes from Semi Ojeleye, who is simply not tall enough or a big enough threat to score.  They needed to shore up the backup center position, because Enes Kanter is a regular season player with very limited value in the post-season.

I think the draft has mostly addressed the backup wing issue.  Between Pritchard and Waters, they probably have a solid third string point.  Still need to find a better backup point.

If Hayward leaves, ideally they would find somebody who can start so that Smart can slide back to a 6th man role.  However, I think it would be OK if he remains the starting 2 since he should be out there in crunch time anyway.

If Rob Williams stays healthy and can become a bit more consistent, he and Theis should be all the Celts need to fill out the minutes at the 5.  Grant Williams should continue to be a solid 15-20 minute option at the 4 who can fit in nicely with the starters as necessary.

Langford getting healthy and actually contributing as a defensive 2/3 with some ability to attack the basket would be nice, but I don't know how realistic that is.

ok thanks!  The Poku thing was a hypothetical...wondering if Poku stashed at 26 would have negated the need to trade 30.  But, then Danny would have had to choose between Pritchard and Poku (if the promise to Pritchard rumor is true).

You don't think Pritchard is ready as a backup PG?  Everything I've seen, including age, experience, etc..says he's ready for that.

The only things I know about Pritchard:

(1) He was very good in college for four years in a reasonably competitive conference.

(2) He was expected to go in the second half of the second round of the draft.

Maybe he's Luke Ridnour?  I dunno.  It's funny, I thought of Luke Ridnour without realizing that Ridnour also went to Oregon.

I have no expectations for Pritchard.  Carsen Edwards was also awesome in college and wasn't able to do much of anything at the G-League level, let alone the NBA.

Pritchard seems like he's more of a well-rounded guard prospect than Edwards was, so that makes me think that perhaps he has a better chance of actually earning minutes.

Maybe he's Carlos Arroyo.
