I do not  see ainge making a trade for harden...
And at this stage the celtics are probably worse than the heat the bucks and the nets in the east...
If gordon wants out and knowing that tatum and brown are 2 or 3 years before their prime I would not be shocked if  ainge plays the waiting game once again.. trades walker and hayward for top 6 picks and waits
Walker to Chicago and Hayward to atlanta for 4 and 6
And more assets
If he gets wiseman and hayes or hulliburton  can build around the j's.. that was the plan before the walker trade
Unpopular opinion but probably wiser than trade for a 1 year harden rental

Harden has 2 years in his contract not 1.

They could try going back through the draft but there aren't any game changers for the C's unless you believe in Toppin or Wiseman. Who else would you consider?

I would do this 10/10 times
'21 Historical Draft
PG: Kyle Lowry / Mookie Blaylock / Mark Jackson
SG: Reggie Miller / Jeff Hornacek / Nick Anderson
SF: George Gervin / George McGinnis / Kyle Korver
PF: Connie Hawkins / Serge Ibaka / Josh Smith
C: Clint Capela / Bill Laimbeer / Jusuf Nurkic

Everyone is missing the obvious.

Gordon Hayward player option deadline was extended because Cs needed more time to meet his demand that Cs make moves to win NOW otherwise he is opting out. This is speculation but he has probably demanded that the Cs trade either Brown or Tatum for a big time star that fits more with Gordon's win now timeline. Now how is that for what is really going on!!!

  • Larry Bird for President
Worst case

-Hayward walks for nothing to Atlanta.
- Boston keeps all three picks and drafts a bench player and 2 stashes and or g league talent
-Kanter opts out and leaves. Semi option picked up
- Boston uses 9 mil MLE on a bench player
- Roster goes mainly unchanged.
- Danny commits to youth movement
- Team plays hard but is middle road Eastern conference

Why would tatum walk.. he wants to be the first option.. irwing left because the young guys wanted to be the alpha dogs.. he would be n1 and brown n2..

I am not saying it's their fault but.. irwing walker and hayward were non factors because of their injuries when it mattered.. we know walker is a great player but with defensive problems.. hayward gets injured all the time..
The real question is... are those 2 guys enough to help brown and tatum win titles? Are we better than the lakers the nuggets the clippers  warriors nets Raptors sixers bucks etc..? Are you sure that this team next year can beat all these teams?
I say it is good too create a winning environment like ainge did the last 3 years.. but tatum and brown will be at their prime in 3 4 years and walker and hayward would be 34 35 then... if you could get giannis or davis I would say I want to go all in now
You don't

that is exactly what Hayward is thinking... go all in NOW.

Why would Atl give us ANYTHING if they can sign Hayward outright?

Nope. Delusional is thinking the Cs are going to win anything by running it back when other teams are making monster moves to get better. Tatum is watching!!!

Hayward for Turner is what moves the needle for us. Would still need a playmaking PG and a knock-down catch & shoot guy off the bench.

Add those three parts and keep the rest intact, maybe reacquire Baynes if possible and we are serious contenders for the foreseeable future.
The Four Celtic Generals:
Russell - Cowens - Bird - Garnett
