I like Collins, but I don't value him as highly as some on here do. I may be wrong. I admit that. But I see him as a slightly better Kyle Kuzma rotation player. Kuzma couldn't start for a contender because of his weaknesses, but he was still a valuable piece to their championship.

If my valuation is correct, this trade is fair on all sides. If I'm too low on Collins, you are right that the Hawks give up too much. Either way, I think it's a good deal for the Pacers.

Yeah you’re valuation is way off and laughable if you think Kuzma and Collins are on the same level/tier.

I don't know why you feel the need to belittle people that disagree with you. We disagree on his value. I think the market for him will likely show I'm pretty close on his value in the next two years. If he gets a big contract or gets an all-star nod, I think it will be on a bad team where he is putting up good numbers.

On a good team, he's a high level role player -- in my opinion.

I can't see Atlanta being down on Collins.  He's a really good player.  This makes no sense for Atlanta to give up that much for someone who most likely won't resign (Dipo) with the team.  it would be a rental plus they get a worse pick??  Never going happen.  I love Collins and have for years and he's the kind of Big I desperately want the C's to find.  I think Jalen Smith can be a similar player to Collins and would cost less.  I think he will be a better 3pt shooter and rebounder in the NBA but does not have the same athleticism as Collins.  He definitely has great touch around the basket.  He blocks out and is strong.  Not the greatest lateral quickness but not Kanter slow.  He has length and can block shots.  This is the guy I want the C's to pick at 14 unless someone unexpected drops.

I feel that way too. It'd be weird for Atlanta to go into the season with Capela, Collins, and Okongwu. If not to us, I assume one of those guys will be gone.

Capela, Collins, Okongwu, and Dedmon. Frankly, Hunter is more Marvin Williams and a 4 than true wing.

It really seems like they intend to trade someone. Since they traded for Dedmon and Capela less than a season ago, I would guess they are safe. I really think Collins is gone.

I really don't think he'd opt-in to go to Cleveland. I doubt that's happening.

I'm guessing Hayward has asked to be traded to the Pacers, telling the Cs that he will opt out and go sign with Atlanta if he's not. Now, it seems like there is a starring contest going on.

20 and 10 last year, hitting 40% of his 3's. That all sounds good. I don't know much about him but he's a great athlete too, right?

I like Collins as a long term fit for this team. I get the feeling that Tatum doesn't mind having high volume players around him so he can focus on what makes him truly unique, his efficiency.

The constant pressure that John Collins puts on a front court coupled with the frequent attacks coming from Kemba, leaves a lot of room for Tatum to pop off a timely 3 or slice through the defense for a dunk and those type of stretches are demoralizing for a team.

We're never going to beat teams from the front court but if we can have a stable source of buckets and rebounding  our wings will put us over the top against 90% of teams in the league and allow us to hang with the top 10%.

I will pretend that ATL can't just sign Hayward and go with the idea. Like others, I'm a fan of Collins, but the deal has to be for Capela, doesn't it? As it stands, Collins is mostly a PF, but Capela, Okongwu, and Dedmon are all definite Centers. No way we deal Hayward for Dedmon.

I understand the concerns about Capela's range, but he would be amazing in his role on this team. Having that kind of defensive presence on the back line, along with his ability to switch on the pnr would be super-helpful on a team full of offensive stars.
